Display your favorite photos with rustic charm–create some custom photo holders with leftover blocks of wood.

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:

To begin, paint your blocks of wood with acrylic craft paint.  Let dry completely.

Use you sandpaper to remove some of the paint from the edges, roughing up the paint a bit to give the blocks a weathered look.

Wrap your jute once around the top of the block, and tie tightly in a knot on the back.   Add some hot glue under, and around the knot to hold it in place.

Firmly wrap the jute around the block four more times, and then cut, and hot glue the end to the back to hold the wraps in place.

Cut a small rectangle from the burlap, and tie in the middle like you’re making a bowtie.

Glue your burlap bow to the block, but not on the loops–you don’t want the wraps of jute stuck to the block so you can’t slide a photo underneath them.  Embellish as desired.  I added a shell to the center of my bows, because I wanted mine to be beach themed for summer, but you could add buttons, or a flower, or any embellishment your heart desires.  To display a photo, simply slip the top, and bottom of the photo underneath the wraps of jute.

Happy Crafting!
