Make a pretty pair of trendy earrings for yourself, or as a special, handmade gift by following along with this easy tutorial.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- Dazzle It Leather Cord 1 mm x 5 yd. Round Natural
- John Bead Semi-Precious 8 in. 6 mm Round African Turquoise
- Cousin Needle Nose Plier with Cutter
- Beadalon Ear Wires Ball & Spring Nickel Free Silver plated 20 pc.
- John Bead Must Have Findings Crimp Tube 2mm Silver 300pc
To begin, figure out how long you want your earrings to dangle. Cut two pieces of cord that is twice is long–we’ll be folding the length in half to make two dangles. Tie a double knot at one end of each of the two pieces of cord.
String beads onto your cord. I chose to string 11 beads, and slid 5 beads on one side, and 6 on the other. Double knot the other ends of the pieces of cord. Fold the cord in half, and slide the beads down on both sides.
When the cord is folded in half, pinch the middle together, and slide a crimp bead over the loop, and down the cord a bit. Use your pliers to open the loop on the earring wire, and place the looped end of the cord into the wire loop. Pinch the wire to close.
Slide the crimp tube up near the earring wire, not so tight that the earring won’t dangle freely though. Use your pliers to pinch the crimp tube into place.
Trim the ends of the cord under the beads so they are even. Make a second earring just as you did the first.
