Make a cozy, plaid patterned mountain scene to decorate your home in the cold winter months.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- Art Advantage Artist Canvas 8 x 10 in.
- DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint – #319 Burlap 2 oz.
- White Paint
- Quality Growers Moss MossyMat Peel & Stick Sheet 16 x 18 in.
- Plaid Flannel Fabrics
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
To begin, paint the front, and sides of your canvas with your burlap colored paint. Let dry.
Lay your canvas face down on your burlap, and cut around the canvas, leaving a 3-inch wide border all around.
Leaving your canvas face down, use your hot glue to attach your burlap to the edges of your canvas. Adhere along one edge, and then move to the opposite side, pulling the burlap snug to flatten it across the front. Glue another edge, and then move again to the opposite edge, pulling the burlap snugly. Don’t worry about the corners yet, just make sure the edges are stretched tight, and fold and adhere the excess burlap onto the back edge.
Pinch the corners, fold down onto the back, and use hot glue to hold.
Now choose your fabric for your tallest mountain. Fold in half, and cut an angle into the fold that is as tall as you want your mountain to be.
Open your triangle, and position on your canvas.
Now cut various sizes of smaller mountains out your moss sheet, and remaining fabrics. Lay each in position on the canvas as you cut them. Trim, and layer the mountains as you desire until you’re happy with your design.
Attach your fabric mountains with hot glue. Peel the backing off of the moss mountains to expose the adhesive, and then simply press them onto the surface.
Use your white paint to make a snowstorm on dots onto your canvas. Let dry.
Happy Cozy Winter Crafting!
