My spoiled, stubborn, gigantic American Bulldog, Pippin! He makes me smile every day. : )

A picture of my new niece, Athena, who normally cries around people but didn’t with me – all smiles. This made me smile.

I’ve been going to an “old people” exercise class twice a week and a couple people in the class share jokes that make the whole class laugh. The socialization, exercise and laughter has picked up my spirits and made me more energetic and creative. I even got out the sewing machine my sister gave me and actually got it threaded with the help of a YouTube video.

Finished reading a history book and making a peek-a-boo card. Yeah! Would love to win the paints.

Taking a walk in the wee hours of the morning, and hearing a bird wake up with his happy song to start the day.

I got to have a long birthday dinner with my daughter. I am still smiling thinking of the fun we had.

After over a year of not being able to be within 6 feet of my two grandsons, ages 3 & 7, I finally had my 2 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. It was a long-awaited and beautiful day when I was finally able to touch, hold, hug and kiss them and see their sweet little faces without a mask. The littlest, Benjamin, gazed up into my face and with his most serious look and adorable lisp said, “I love you, grandma.” My heart melted.

Now, even vaccinated, we are in the same mess due to the Delta variant. I now have 3 grandsons I cannot touch, hold, hug or kiss, but this a sacrifice we must take to keep our family and others safe. As my sorrow and loneliness increase with each passing day, I cannot help but ask myself, “Will this ever end?”

I keep myself busy knitting newborn hats for our local hospital, catching up on family scrapbooks, finishing crafts I never had time for before, cutting wood crafts with my scroll saw and tole painting. Crafting and being creative calms my anxiety and feeds my soul. When I’m having a particularly sad day I reflect back on the time I was able to hold my grandsons. What makes me smile is the sweet memory of Benjamin and his heartfelt words to his grandma.

I hope and pray this global pandemic will soon be a distant memory. My heart aches for families torn apart and loved ones lost. I am so thankful for brilliant scientists who are diligently working to control this deadly virus.

Thanks to ThinkCrafts for their weekly giveaways! What a generous act to help keep us all sane through crafting.

My work family makes me smile everyday! I have never had such a laid back, fun and low stress job. It is like girls night out (without the alcohol). The guys are great too! 90% of us are craft nerds and the other 10% are just nerds! I love my job!

Watching TikTok goat videos with my daughter! Then we try to get our goats to do something funny and they just ignore us… 🙂

What makes me smite is really at first sad but then happy. My employer sold the business and I was 13 months from retirement and happy because my financial guy told me I could live off savings until I retire officially so I’m smiling every day now. And all this before my 60th birthday

I just got together with my three sisters. We hugged, talked, ate, laughed and cried together. As always, after spending time with my sisters, I left with a happy heart and a smile on my face!

A few days ago, my Grandkids called me to let me know how good their first day back to school was after 1 1/2 year schooling at home. The fact that all 4 of them thought to call me after school was a warm and wonderful feeling. 🙂

I finished a rose painting in pastels that looks so real. It made me smile with happiness.

My smile was bittersweet. My spoiled rotten 16-year-old daughter has just started her senior year. She is my baby. Where does the time go?

Seeing my aunt and uncle for the first time in too many years, with my daughter. So much laughter and joy at being together and telling stories. It was the best!

Something that made me smile recently was seeing my granddaughter. But she makes me smile always.

I recently saw a picture of a sunflower farm. There were so many sunflowers in the field that I had to smile. It’s too far for me to visit in person but just looking at all the beautiful sunflowers made me smile.

My cats always make me smile – I have one who snores very loudly and she loves to sleep in my office, so I hear it alot!

Celebrating sixty years of marriage with my wonderful husband, who has been my best friend for even more years, makes me smile! Just looking forward to more years with him keeps me smiling. “Happiness is being married to your best friend!”

Videos and pictures of my grandchildren as well as online visits have helped me smile. It has been difficult with the border being closed and missing our yearly visits in person.

What makes me smile? For the last 4 weeks, I get such a sweet sound, which puts a smile on my face, the minute I get up. What is the sound? Well some people might think it’s bothersome but not me! There are two feral kittens under my mobile home that mama cat left them too early, in my opinion. I’ve been trying to trap them and I already got two of four caught. Which I turned over to the animal shelter. Now I have two more but can’t get them. Either it’s been very hot out, I’m gone all day, or they are too smart. Anyhow, every morning when I get up, they start crying. When I feed my cats, or talk to them, the kittens start to cry. It makes me happy to hear them as I know they made it through the night. I would say they are 3 months old, but still was too young to be alone. When I would talk to rhe kittens through the air vents, it’s so awesome to hear them respond back to me. They get louder. When I move around the home, they can hear me and follow me. They get real loud with their crying/yelling then. When everything is quiet, they are quiet, well most of the time. It’s so cute as I just laugh or smile. Yeah, it has put a smile on my face the minute I get up until I go to bed. After I feed my two cats, I then take the kittens food out to them. And I laugh/smile the minute I start to open the front door. As they are right there under the home yelling loud. See, I told you that they follow my foot steps. But they are very feral and scare of everything. They will continue their yelling while I mix up there food. By then, they are under the deck which is attached to my home. I talk to them while getting food ready. The very second I step into my home and shut the door, they are up there eating! And I don’t dare look out my front room window at them because if they see me or one of my cats, zoom, they are gone! I have to stand back and hide behind my curtains to watch them. Those two would woof that food down as fast as they can, and then they run back under the deck. Then they will start crying or yelling again. Why? I don’t have a clue! Maybe they hear me moving around!? When they were all together as a family, every night after I fed all of them, those four kittens along with mama would play for hours on the deck. My bench swing was the main item they played on. Was so cute to see the kittens go from not being able to get up on it, to jumping all over. There would be play fighting to sleeping on it. If you ever watch kittens playing, you would agree that their clumsy, goofy actions are so funny to watch. In the mornings, all of them would play outback behind my shed and where my bedroom and master bathroom is. Good alarm clock as they run though the skirting back and forth. You would swear that they were tearing off the skirting! So I had the best entertainment morning and night back then. Now all I have is two scared kittens that entertains me just by hearing them, or when I get a chance to watch them! And of course I have my two fur babies that entertains me also. But, these two kittens are something else. Simple things always make me smile, but these two kittens take the cake. I never expected two little feral kittens would bring such a big smile or joy the first thing in the morning, and last until bedtime. I have often dreamed about owning a big farm house out in the country as I would fill it with so many rescue cats!! Outside, the rescued dogs and any other rescued animals!! Probably donkeys and horses, to keep them from slaughter. That would be the grand slam smile of them all!! But it’s only a dream, so for now those two kittens will make me smile with laughter ever day & night. I will be sad when they go (if I can get them trapped), but they would have a much better life! All of this might sound stupid to many people, but it’s the little, simple things like this that brings the biggest smile to me!

    The end.

This week’s “thing” that made me smile was a short video of my 11 month old great niece in her highchair being given a pancake to eat by her mom who teaches her the most amazing things. She twisted the pancake into a ton of shapes, smelled it, tasted it, made all kinds of “what is this new thing” faces, tasted it again, tried to share it with their dogs, sniffed it, rolled it, folded it, flapped it in the air, and other interesting stuff that little ones do. She’s a little red haired, brown eyed, incredibly bright, very strong minded but at the same time such a pleasant happy little girl who makes a great aunt across the other side of the country laugh out loud very often.

Being able to bake 2 cheesecakes in my little kitchen makes me happy because I know that the person they are going to will totally enjoy them!! I like to see people’s reactions when they first have a bit….it’s makes my day!!

I smiled this morning when it rained an inch and a half. Our four acre yard is so yellow and brittle. There is more rain in the forecast for the next few days so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that more will follow.

Getting back to walking with my friend. I have not walked with her for many months and it has been so nice to get up early and walk before starting the busy day.

My husband and my dog. Love them so much. My dog can always tell when I need cheering up when my hubby isn’t around too.

My neighbor has a desert tortoise and they bought a large tortoise statue to put in the back yard thinking it was a nice decorative touch. However, Bob the Tortoise apparently thought it was his new girlfriend and has been getting friendly with it, much to my neighbor’s amused chagrin.

A friend asked me to make purple octopus jewelry as a special gift, it was a great challenge but the results were worth it. I was told it was even better than they were thinking it would be and there was just great joy with it.

What made and makes me smile is that I can finally touch and love on the feral cat Wallie that I have been feeding for over a year! Only a few more steps to getting him neutered and he is almost excepted by all my other cats. Lovin it.

Eating pizza with my husband and adult children after a fun day at the beach house we rented. It was good to be able to be together (all vaccinated and tested negative) and enjoying each other’s company. Lots of smiles and laughter 🙂

My grandkids make me laught. They say and do things that amaze me. So thankful for them. I took them food shopping, while I was ordering at the deli they decided to weigh the blueberries on the scale and ended up dropping the container….blueberries everywhere. I made them pick them up and they did…every one.

I just found out that I will be working “remotely” for a longer period now. I like working at home, very quiet, no drive time or traffic, I can listen to my music, dress anyway I want and the kitchen is just steps away. 🙂
    Stay Safe out there Everyone!!!

Losing 7 Pandemic Pounds! 20 left to go. Then I can work on losing the spare tire from before Covid.

What made me smile was watching my granddaughter playing with and talking to her (baby shark) family and trying to sing the words to the song, so sweet. She isn’t quite two yet, and it’s so inspiring to watch her and learn from her daily.

My 2 oldest children (20 and 18) both went out of state with friends this week. One is in Florida and one is in North Carolina. It’s the first time they have ever been that far away from me so it was a tough week for me. I didn’t let them know it because they were so excited about their trips, I didn’t want to rain on their parade. They have called and text all week because they know I worry. Yesterday I got a call from each of them and they sounded a little down. They are both homesick and can’t wait to be home tomorrow! I guess they do love me even though they act like they don’t need me half the time. My ♥️ is full today.
