Create some Easter Eggs with beautiful hand drawn foiled designs using We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill Freestyle Pen.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill Freestyle Pen All-in-One Kit
- Wooden Eggs
- Acrylic Craft Paint
To begin, paint your eggs the colors of your choice, and let them dry completely.
Plug in your Freestyle Pen, and let it preheat for 5-10 minutes. Cut a small piece of foil that will fit the design you have in mind. Use the tape from the kit to adhere the four edges to the egg. It will not fit snugly around the egg, and you don’t want wrinkles, so just make it as taut as you can.
To begin drawing with the Freestyle pen, use the thumb and index finger of one hand to help curve the foil down tight against the surface of the egg while you hold the pen and draw with your other hand. This is a learning process, so be patient with yourself. Draw slowly, pressing slightly to help adhere the foil. You’ll be able to see the lines you’ve drawn when you’re doing it correctly. Draw your design.
When you’re done drawing, simply peel back the foil to reveal your design!
I found for making tiny patterns, like random dots on my egg, I could simply hold the used sheet of foil against the egg at a place where the foil was still in tact, and draw without taping down the foil. This was a great way to use scraps, and make the most out of the piece of foil.
Curved surfaces were a bit tricky, but not impossible, to work on.
The larger eggs were definitely easier to draw more detailed images on than the smaller ones.
Foiling with the Freestyle Pen was really fun, and the results are really pretty.
