Many stamp sets today come with matching dies which make it easy to cut out images. This allows you to pop up your stamped designs with foam tape to give more interest and texture to the card. On my card today, I’ll show you how easy it is to cut out images by hand if you don’t happen to have a die set to go with your stamps.
I used this stamp set from Stampendous called Fran’s Baby Gift which has so many cute images for lots of baby cards.
I first stamped my chosen images and colored them in with Zig Clean Color Brush Pens.
Next, I used EK Tools non-stick Precision Scissors to cut out the stamped images. Using really small scissors like these make it easy to get into all the nooks and crannys of your paper. Be sure, as you’re cutting, to move the paper and not the scissors. This will ensure smooth edges and make cutting super easy. I always leave a little big of a white border around my image too.
Next, for the background I added a panel of card stock that I embossed with the Sizzix Confetti Hearts embossing folder to the front of a white note card. This gives an interesting background to otherwise plain white space.
I arranged my stamped pieces onto a 4”x 4” piece of white card stock with foam squares and then adhered it to the top of the note card. The bright colors of the images along with the popped-up pieces look great against the plain white card.
A good pair of precision scissors is a necessity in your craft supply drawer. I reach for mine all the time!
Thanks so much for joining me today!
