Since starting my new love of making altered journals, I’ve amassed quite a large amount of ribbon and decorative trim.   When looking at these cute little skates from Avery Elle’s Holiday Skates stamp set, I thought about the little pom pom trim I had and the perfect way I could use it.

I first created a background for the skates using the Snow die cut from Avery Elle.

A quick tip—this Sizzix Brush and Foam Pad set makes life a lot easier when you are trying to poke out teeny holes from die cuts like this.  Just run the brush over your die cut using the foam pad and the holes pop out like magic!

I added some sparkle to the die cut by dipping in in Versamark Dazzle ink and heating it with holographic embossing powder.

After coloring my skates with alcohol markers, I adhered my trim using tiny strips of 1/8 in. Scor-Tape.

This super thin tape is very strong and is perfect to fit the pom pom trim.

After adding the trim, I put the card together using a blue background panel and a white notecard along with a sentiment from Banner Bits.

The trim adds some unexpected texture to the stamp.  I would love some fun skates like this!

Thanks so much for joining me today!
