Happy Friday everyone. Because this year had been all kinds of crazy, I figure we all need a little Christmas (right this very minute) . So this week I am giving away 2 Ornaments Kits from The Beadery!

The Beadery Ornament Kits create beautiful beaded ornaments and each kit comes with beads, wire, and full color diagrams for each step of the process.

Every Friday we’ll post a giveaway on Think Crafts and all you have to do is comment on the blog post answering the question of the week. We’ll pick the winners and contact them via email. Deadline is midnight tonight and the winner will be announced Monday. One entry per person please.

Question of the week: When do you start decorating for the holidays?

Traditionally day after Thanksgiving but this year it’s this weekend. I want to get it up so I can enjoy it longer after all of the work it takes :)))

Usually the day after Thanksgiving but……as you said this year is crazy and I have already put up one tree in the kitchen. We have six fake trees in the basement and every year is different with what I do but I really think this year I will be going all out .

  3. Karen Wallace

I start Thanksgiving weekend. But I have already started my Christmas crafts due to no travel right now. I made a sock wreath for my soon to be new Great-Nephew in Brooklyn, NY. We live in NC.

  4. Mary Elmore

I start decorating for Christmas on the day after Thanksgiving…and I don’t take decorations down until February!

  5. Sue

The day before Thanksgiving… having all the decorating done makes me feel in the mood for Black Friday Christmas shopping!

We have a tree decorating party the day after Thanksgiving. Just our two daughters, my husband and myself, (and sometimes my daughters’ boyfriends). We keep it simple, order pizza and a nice dessert, and of course hot chocolate! Once the tree is decorated we all watch a Christmas movie. As for the rest of the decorations, I will continue to decorate throughout the next week. It has been a crazy year and it will be interesting to see what the holiday season will be like, but no matter what, it will be filled with love and the magic of Christmas!

We start decorating on Thanksgiving day. I put the turkey in the oven and get everything ready for dinner and then we start the fun. The tree goes up and the decorations come out. After dinner we crash in the living room and enjoy our beautiful tree.

After Halloween, i start to pull out my boxes of ‘Holiday Cheer’ decorations.
I really get serious, when Thanksgiving arrives.

  9. Jaimi Bailey

This year being what it is, we decided we’d like a longer Christmas season, so we will be decorating this weekend.
Usually, we start putting up the Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving.

I will be decorating Friday after Thanksgiving. My sisters and I have cookie exchange the first Saturday of every December this will be year 17. My sisters are not blood they are a craft group I run we are called Saturday Sisters but this year cookie exchange will be a party in a bag and I still want my house done because everyone is coming to pick up supply bags with recipes to make their own cookies. And doing box lunches with our families at our own homes very different but we can live with this change. There are 36 of us and I’m the baby at age 59. We plan on making the most of what we can of seeing each other.

For Christmas, I like to start the day after Thanksgiving. Sometimes I even start before Thanksgiving, It depends on my mood.

  12. Nadine

Usually between the day after Thanksgiving and December 1st. As I get older it deems to drift later into December sometimes. I do love Christmas.

  13. Theresa H

We put up some lights before Thanksgiving while it is warmer but we don’t turn them on. We finish decorating the day after Thanksgiving and turn everything on.

  14. Jessie McCloskey

We typically start around just after Thanksgiving, but this year is different for many reasons. So we decorated right after Halloween this time!

  15. Karen

I usually start putting up the outside decorations after Thanksgiving but not this year. We put everything up outside right after Halloween. Now it’s on to the inside of the house. Just trying to bring some normal back into our lives.

  16. Brooke Guadagno

The day after Thanksgiving. I used to decorate a lot more but all the kids are gone and so is my husband so I’m in an apartment now with not much room.

  17. Linda Schmitt

We always start the weekend after Thanksgiving. And with all the trials of 2020 we are going to stay with tradition. Trying to keep some normalcy amidst all the craziness!

  18. Mary Duer

I start decorating outside after Thanksgiving. It’s a tradition in our family. We do not start inside until after December 7th my husband was in the Navy. So respect for those fallen heroes we wait. Makes it a little bit more sentimental and special. We do put our shoes out for St. Nicholas Day. I also did this with my students.

  19. Kelly OBrien

It’s different every year, based on how busy life is. I love these ornament kits because they remind me of some that had been on my grandparents’ tree when I was growing up and were passed along individually to family members later. It would be lovely to have some similar company for my family heirloom piece.

  20. Dee

I generally begin Christmas the day after Thanksgiving…however, this year was a bit twisted so am just now taking down Halloween, soooooo, will put Christmas up beginning Nov 23rd. Kind of sad that I didn’t get my Thanksgiving decorations up because I have some truly wonderful pieces, but they will wait for me until 2021.

  21. Jo-Ann

I love Christmas and wish I could buy gifts for everybody I know and see things for them all year. It’s kind of always in the back of my mind. If I see something for someone I will pick it up and try to start to do little things around the house to start decorating or get the house in the mood.

  22. BethAnne Dunlap

Ours varies to how busy we are from year to year so sometimes its the week before. But, we do put new items out as we buy them anytime after Thanksgiving. With fake trees, we can leave them up and enjoy them longer after the crazy rush of the holiday demands. Looking forward to a simpler and more meaningful one this year.

  23. Denise Bryant

    These ornaments look really fun!
I am a last-minute kinda gal! I usually decorate around the middle of December! But once the tree is up, I tend to leave it up for about a month before I pack things up to put away!

  24. Renee

I’ll wait until after Thanksgiving. I like to make sure the meaning of each holiday is celebrated separately.

  25. Mary

We try to buy our real Christmas tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. We start decorating that weekend also.

  26. Gail Plaskiewicz

We have 3 seasonal trees on our fireplace mantel. They are up all year. Right now they are fall trees. After Thanksgiving probably the first week in Dec. or the second week is when we will make them Christmas trees.. I love Christmas but not so much this year with this virus. I hope I feel better soon!

  27. Dianne Gardner

We usually start decorating the first weekend in December. We leave our decorations up until mid January most years but sometimes we take them down on January 1st.

  28. Deeon Laszczak

We decorate our tree and home starting the day after Thanksgiving. (But I might sneak a few thing out before then.) 🙂

  29. Deeon Laszczak

We decorate our tree and home starting t Thanksgiving weekend. (But I might sneak a few things out before then.) 🙂

  30. Jean V

We do a huge lawn display and only have the weekends to work, so we start right after Halloween, but don’t light anything until after Thanksgiving. Happy Holidays Everyone!!

  31. Kristine Tennessen

I decorate the day after Thanksgiving… hubby brings all the decor down for me to go at it!

  32. Cheryl

The ornaments are beautiful! Would loved to have entered, but my email was timed 1:00 am, Saturday. So by the time I saw it, the contest was over.
Decided to answer the question anyway.
I usually like to start decorating Dec. 1st.

  33. Gale Schlagenhauf

my husband and I decorate inside and out of our trailer including the tree the first weekend in December and leave it all up and lit until the day after New Year’s. Day. We have so much fun together every year because I am a crafter and have made so many beautiful ornaments, wreaths and other things for around the house, that it takes time to pick out a new theme each year, but it is so much fun!
