If you are looking for a different kind of card to make this holiday season, why not try a tunnel card?

A tunnel card is almost like a shadow box with a 3d element that allows you to layer stamped images or embellishments inside to create a cute scene.

This tunnel card kit from Photoplay comes with enough pieces to make 6 cards and they’re great to use with those embellishment packs you get from scrapbook kits.   For today’s project, I used Doodlebug Design’s Winter Wonderland Odds and Ends pack to create this adorable winter greeting card.

The package comes with step by step directions.  All you need are 2 sizes of basic shaped dies like a square or circle and some 1/8 in. Scor Tape for the adhesive.  Thin tape runner works too.

For my card, I chose circle dies and cut those into the correct pieces of card stock that come with the kit.

I ink blended a little bit of Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink around each circle I cut to give the look of a snowy scene.  I chose to do a clean and simple look with this card, but you could also add patterned paper to the pieces for pops of color.

After assembling the card according to the directions, I added my ephemera pieces to put a scene together starting with the mountain in the back and working forward adding trees and the snowman.  I used some tape runner to adhere each of the pieces.

I love how this little scene turned out.  For the front of the card, I added a sentiment from Avery Elle’s Snow Fun stamp set to tie everything together.

These cards would be great for kids too.  Just assemble the main cards and let everyone add their own paper pieces or stamped images to make a scene.

Thanks so much for joining me today!
