I love to see the finished products decorating my home and enjoy the relaxation while I am making them.

I craft now because, in times of high stress during the pandemic and the run up to the election, it calms me and takes me away from the cares of the world for a while.

  3. Mary Ellen Blacker

I craft because it makes me feel better about myself in these crazy times.
    Gives me peace.

I craft because my eyes see something and my mind goes that would make a cute???? and off I go getting every thing I need to finish and I can’t stop thinking about it until I finish it. It is really hard to walk into a store any store because just takes one glance and I have something stuck in my head.

    I enjoy it.
I like the sense of accomplishment.
    Finished projects are great gifts.
Sometimes, crafting saves money on store bought.
I see results from time spent crafting.
It’s therapeutic and a great ‘get away’.

I love making useful things and thoughtful presents! I also have a hard time just sitting still and doing nothing so crafting, needlepoint etc., is PERFECT for me!

  7. Paulette R Mangham

I craft because it gives me the opportunity to create a perfect world through the wonderful world of painting landscape and creating whimsical wire sculpture to brighten ones day!

Everyone said it so well. I craft for all of those reasons. I particularly enjoy picking a craft while traveling, working on it while flying or riding in the car, boat or train; then each time I see it in my home, it brings back memories of my travels. It makes great gifts for my traveling companions.

It’s a relaxing way to escape. Creative expression is like therapy and in the end, I have something beautiful.

  10. Claudia Charette

I craft because it allows me to express myself in a way that working in the corporate world didn’t. I love being in my sewing room surrounded by colors and textures and the opportunity to see possibilities for new projects. It’s relaxing and allows me to escape the tedium of living with the Covid-19 pandemic. It also lets me be an entrepreneur by selling some of my wares, which involves marketing, selling, website building, socializing and so much more. Crafting creates so many opportunities.

    I craft because…
Once upon a time there was a bonnie wee laddie, who could nay draw a pretty scene or paint a beauteous lass, nor write a tale of love and adventure, nor sing a song to soothe the savage breast, nor tap at the stones until their very souls were revealed or pare away at the wood until ye had a place to sit, nor cook a meal that would keep ye out of the hospital, nor grow a flower to please your eyes and nose or a vegetable to build you up big and strong or a fruit that did nay wither to dust ere it could be harvested for wine or ade or cider or juice.

But, Aye! That laddie could hook the yarn and clack the needles and spin the spindle and cut and piece the fabrics and decorate it all with the glossiest flosses! And now the whole village is warm and secure as they stroll along the garden paths, admire the pictures and statues, sit by the fire while reading their thrilling romances, hear the choir merrily caroling, or raise a cup to toast him at a feast to celebrate their cozy clothing.

Not saying I am that lad, but I’m a fair bit like him. I’m just not bonnie nor wee anymore.

  12. Erin MacDonald

I craft because it helps my stress and anxiety levels and I really enjoy creating things!

  13. Dianne G.

I craft because I enjoy the time spent creating things and I find it so relaxing. I also love to see the smiles on the faces of the recipients and it gives me lots of joy.

  14. Kathy Secrest

I craft because there are all these marvelous creative projects and supplies to play with. Dream it – Do it!

  15. Katie Amodio

I craft because if I didn’t I’d be a danger to myself and others. I NEED to have a way to be creative! As one with a debilitating chronic disease (ME/CFS) I have to keep my heart rate down. On days I have some energy and mental clarity I can go to my playroom and make something for someone else, which feeds my soul in ways I can’t otherwise do. Plus, I love it!

  16. Marcia L Lander

I craft for my family and friends. They are all so thankful that I keep myself busy! I stay out of their business! LOL
