Create a cute craft just in time to celebrate Earth Day!
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- Darice Tissue Paper 20 in. x 26 in. Value Pack Solid Assorted 100 pc .
- FloraCraft Styrofoam Ball 3 in. White 6 pc.
- Darice Foamies Foam Sheet 9 x 12 in. 2 mm. Glitter Gold
- Plaid Mod Podge 8 oz. Gloss
- Plaid Paint Brush Set Texture Gold Nylon/Natural 8 pc
- Scissors
- Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue
- Sanford Sharpie Permanent Marker – Black
To begin, tear some 1-2 inch pieces from your turquoise tissue paper. Apply a layer of Mod Podge to a small section of your Styrofoam ball, press a piece of tissue paper over the top, and then use your brush to apply a layer of Mod Podge over the tissue to hold it in place.
Continue covering your ball with pieces of tissue, overlapping as you go.
Tear some tiny pieces of lime green tissue, applying them to the ball as you did the teal, to create land masses on your world. You can use scissors to cut shapes to make your continents more accurate, or simply just make generic masses of land.
Fold a small square of red tissue in quarters, and then fold that in half. Cut a heart from the fold, so you wind up with 2 identical hearts.
Apply the first heart to your world with Mod Podge, and then carefully apply the second heart directly on top of the first, to add another layer that will make your heart show up better. Let dry completely.
Cut a 1.5-inch wide strip of gold foam.
Bring the ends together to form a ring that your world can perch on top of. Trim the ends with scissors, and then stick the ends together with tacky glue. Let dry.
Use your marker to draw a cute little face on your world, and then set her on her gold base to display.
Happy Crafting!
