As a card maker, I get a lot of my inspiration for my projects from things around me. It could be colors, textures, wallpaper, food….I love it when something stops me in my tracks and I have to quickly write down an idea from it. For today’s project, I was inspired by these vintage-style post cards I’ve had in my drawer for ages. I don’t use them, I just like to look at them, LOL! They have always reminded me of something a grandmother would have. Very comforting and happy.
I had some of these cute Watercolor Birds stickers from Paper House and thought it would be fun to put together some tags for gift giving using the postcards as inspiration. Using a sentiment set from Hero Arts called, Mix and Match Compliments, I heat embossed a sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink with clear embossing powder onto a tag I created using the Dotted Tag die from Sizzix. I then, arranged a few of the bird stickers around the sentiment. The stickers are clear, so they blend in really well on the tag.
The heat embossing adds a nice affect to an otherwise simple tag. For one of the tags, I added some back stitching with embroidery floss for a homespun feel.
These tags would go well with a little potted plant of gerbera daisies or a nice box of chocolates. Thanks so much for joining me today. Feel free to leave a comment below on the things that inspire your creativity. Have a great day!
