Textural elements on cards are a great way to bring a clean and simple card to the next level. For today’s project, I’m using a stamp and die set from Spellbinders called Wine Corks to create a masculine card perfect for a birthday or any happy event.
Often times, themed paper pads come with neutral designs to act as backdrops for the more busy designs. I like this paper pad from Echo Park called Celebrate Winter because it has a lot of nice basics I can use for other projects besides just winter-based. I was inspired by the plaid designs in this pad for today’s project.
This dark blue plaid reminds me of a study or library with plaid wallpaper, so I wanted that to be my background for my cork piece. I cut out a rectangle of the paper and backed it with a small bit of dark gray card stock to finish the edges. I added the panel at an angle to an A2 size kraft-colored card.
Now for my favorite part! I stamped the cork stamp from the set onto some cork sheet using black dye ink and trimmed it out using the matching die.
I adhered the cork with my Glue Glider Pro tape runner and added the “cheers” that also comes with the set. I heat embossed the “to you” using Ranger’s Letter It: Birthday stamp set and added that as a little piece to complete the card.
I love how realistic that cork stamp looks! This piece would look great alone as its own wine tag or you could even trim it apart to create separate little corks. Thanks so much for joining me today!
