Background dies are perfect for full sized cards as added texture and an additional layer.  But why not add them to gift tags for the same effect?  For today’s card, I’m using the versatile Hero Arts Fancy Flower Garden background die to create some easy and elegant birthday gift tags.

I paired the Fancy Flower Garden die with some mint colored cardstock as well as black.

To make it super easy to adhere the die cut to my tags, I added some Stick It adhesive to the back of my card stock and then die cut everything as usual using my Gemini Jr.  The metal shim that comes with the machine is good to add since this particular die is very intricate.

After die cutting, I peeled away the backing from the Stick It to reveal the adhesive on my die cut.

I used some large white tags from Paper Accents and layered my die cut on top.  Stick It is great because you have a little bit of time to move things around before it permanently adheres.

I used my Tim Holtz non-stick scissors to trim off the excess material…

and added a sentiment from Avery Elle’s So Kind stamp set heat embossed on a square of white card stock.  I used Versafine Onyx black along with clear embossing powder for the heat embossing.

I plan to make a ton of these tags for gift bags in all different colors.  The floral die cut adds such a pretty background.   Thanks so much for joining me today!
