Die sets with various sizes of the same shape are great basics to have on hand.  You have all kinds of options when you need that perfect sized circle or square or when you want to do precise layering on projects.  I especially like when these types of sets have little fun details like stitching, or fun edges.  For today’s project, I will be using the Framelits Dotted Tag set from Stephanie Barnard/Sizzix in a few different ways.

I love the little punched dots along the edges.  They give a really nice “finished” look.

The set also comes with this little “for you” insert die that you can add to the center of any of the tags.

For my first project, I wanted to create a fun rainbow layered tag, so I lined up as many of the tag dies that I could onto my Gemini Jr. plate.

Adding the various colors of cardstock and die cutting everything at the same time made this quick and easy.  The magnetic sheet that came with the Gemini keeps everything in place.  The only tag I couldn’t fit was the largest purple one.

Using foam tape, I layered each tag on top of each other for one big colorful tag.  I buy white gift bags in bulk, so I love adding tags like this to dress them up.  I used a rainbow pattern here, but I also like to find color inspiration from home and garden magazines and try different color combos.

Next, I created a shaker tag by first cutting one of the medium tags in white adding in the little “for you” word to create a window and backing it with clear card stock.

On the largest tag, I piled on some confetti and layered the window tag over the top with foam tape.

I like the fresh, clean look you get with the white and the little pop of color with the confetti.  Seed beads in different colors would work too since it’s a small shaker area.

I added some of the smaller tags to the front of a white note card to create a birthday greeting.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts’ Year Round Sentiments (cut apart to work for this project) and the stars are from Avery Elle’s Big Greetings.  Nuvo drops in Crushed Grape, Midnight Blue and Caribbean Ocean   added more color.

I hope today’s project inspired you to get out your nested dies and experiment with color and layering.  Thanks so much for joining me today!
