Bright and bold Valentines can really make a statement. For today’s project, I’m using a fun stamp and die set from Sizzix called Love In Lights to create two different Valentines.
For this first card, I used just the dies from the set to create a bright and fun layered card.
I first added some paper from Doodlebug’s So Punny 6×6 paper pad to a white note card using my Creative Station. This tool adds adhesive end to end, creating a sticker for your panel so you don’t get any edges popping up.
I die cut 9 hearts from the die set in white and placed them over the front of my card using small foam squares cut in half. It takes a little bit of time, but it’s worth it to get this really nice, graphic heart backdrop.
Using more paper from the paper pad, I layered the “love” die along with the shadow cut over the top of the white heart background. Paper pads like this are great, because you can mix bold and subtle patterns together and everything coordinates. It’s hard to see in the photo, but the red “love” has little tone on tone red hearts on it.
I love adding little clusters when I’m using die cuts, so for this card I added the “xoxo” from Ranger’s Letter It: Loves stamp set along with the little red heart that popped out from the big “love” die cut. I made sure I saved all the little solid hearts that popped out from these dies for another project. Their small size is perfect to scatter around a sentiment.
Inside, I added another sentiment from the Loves stamp set.
For my second card, I simply stamped the “love” multiple times as a background on a rectangular card stock panel. I used Memento Ladybug and Love Letter inks for some contrast and popped the panel up with foam tape onto a white A2 note card. I added a few of the hearts from the Loves stamp set around some of the open spaces and colored them in with a Spectrum Noir marker in DR1. I added some clear Wink of Stella for shimmer.
Add a bag of bright red gummy hearts and you’re ready for Valentine’s Day. Thanks so much for joining me today!
