Turn your favorite patterns into seasonal cards!

Do you have your eye on some of the fabulous patterned paper from CreateForLess, but are wondering how you’d use it now that the holidays are over?  Take a look at that paper and figure out other themes and holidays it can be used for in your projects.  This winter themed paper is perfect for a Valentine’s Day card for example and you can make it, too!

Begin by using a paper trimmer and scoring board to create a 5” x 7” card base from cardstock.

This card was made using the Winter Cottages sheet from the Snow Fun line by Carta Bella.  The little red birds in the trees make it perfect to use for Valentine’s Day.  This is only 1 example of patterned papers you can use.

Cut a 4 ¾” x 6 ¾” piece of cardstock to use for a mat behind the patterned paper.  It will add color and make the pattern stand out more.

Now, cut a 4 ¼” x 6 ½” piece of the patterned paper and lay it aside.

Also, cut a ½” x 5” strip of the same cardstock that you used for the card base.

Adhere the mat onto the card base using a tape runner and then adhere the strip over the top of it.  Place the strip a little below the center of the card to add more attention.

Next, place the patterned paper onto the card.

Die cut or punch several embellishments such as the hearts for this card and add them to it.  You can even use your favorite stickers and stamps.

Stamp a simple sentiment on it and you have created a card using your favorite holiday paper in a different way.

Take a new look at the papers you still have your eye on.  It may not be just for a certain holiday anymore.  Now, head on over to CreateForLess and pick up your favorites!

About Peg

Peg Rounds lives in East Moline, Illinois with her husband and best friend, Kevin and their son Josh and 2 dogs. She was an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom, and later a home school mom. Over the years, she designed cakes on the side and went to school to become a certified chocolatier. She always has loved to craft since she was young and it was something that she wanted to be doing, but set it aside due to her busy life. After 15 years of doing cakes she decided it was time to stop and focus more on her family. She began doing layouts, then cards and it went from there. Before she knew it, next to spending time with her family, she spent every free moment creating something and blogging about it. One thing led to another and here she is today!
