Wearing silly Christmas hats!
Just one?! We kick off the season the day after Thanksgiving when Santa lands in our town in a bright red helicopter! It’s awesome now that I’ve learned to make sure the kids are wearing sunglasses for the dust from the copter – that fist year was a rough one!!!
Making my family blueberry stuffed French toast for breakfast on Christmas morning. They tell me that it wouldn’t be Christmas without it.:)
I love the fact we always read Christmas stories on Christmas Eve, especially ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. I enjoy sitting around the tree looking at all our decorating and craft efforts.
Meeting with family and friends for a great get together, meal and all day visit!
so many to choose from. I think my favorite is one we created with our kids. Instead of Elf on the Shelf we hide the wisemen from our PlayMobil nativity everyday. The wisemen are looking for the savoir and finally find Him on Christmas day. They get into many unusual predicaments just like the elf. The kids love the daily hunt!
i LOVE getting out the handmade ornaments and decorations my grandmother made when i was little
Making cookies!
I love bustling around making gifts throughout Advent, secretly – or with my brothers:)
We also add a piece to our Nativity scene each day leading up to Christmas! We have all types of little animals, birdhouses, bird nests, hay bales, and other accessories to add – even a handmade glowing campfire!
My favorite tradition is traveling with my husband and children to visit with grandparents and family. When the kids were smaller, we had to think of creative ways for Santa to find us. One year we had sprinkled Reindeer food in every state from KY to Arizona…but he did find us.
Photos with Santa! I got my husband a Santa Suit so we can still do it even thought he kids are 28 and 32!
Baking the family Christmas treats. I use recipes that have been passed down for generations. Now my children are asking for these recipes.
We read the Christmas story from Luke 2 on Christmas morning.
Decorating for Christmas. I have a Santa collection that is outgrowing the living room. I have enough ornaments for a 7ft tree, then figurines, hanging items and cross-stitch pictures. I have made many of my Santas, others are gifts and oh, so many memories when I unwrap them and get them out. We had a flood in our last home basement so I had packed “Christmas” into storage for 4 years, then moved last year and didn’t get it all found again. This year was like so many were brand new, I had forgotten about some of my “finds”.
Decorating cookies with my kids
Decorating the tree has always been our family’s favorite tradition.
Gingerbread House Decorating Party with kids from the neighborhood!
Getting the family together for a big meal, decorating the tree, looking at Christmas lights in the neighborhood.
My favorite tradition is making tamales with the family. Mom would prepare the pork and the sweet raisins.
My favorite holiday tradition is Christmas caroling with a group of people from or church. I love the range of ages in the group each year, I love to sing, and I especially love it when it happens on a snowy night. Thanks for the great giveaway! My granddaughter and I need a glue gun!
Making Christmas cookies with my girls when they were little!
My favorite holiday tradition is baking cookies!! Yum!
Going to see the lights with family at Bellingrath Gardens.
I love watching old Christmas movies and eating popcorn, reading Christmas stories and singing carols. Drinking wassal and baking cookies. So much to love about this time of year.
The family gathering called Nisse night almost always held on the 23rd of December. It is my favorite holiday tradition!
We buy ornaments for our kids every year. 🙂
Having all three of my grandchildren together building a snowman in the backyard,. He always greets Santa and the Reindeer!! This year his nose will be glowing red like Rudolph;s nose!
