Dad's the Ticket Father's Day Card

Tell dad he’s the best with this awesome shirt card for Father’s Day.  The pocket holds the ticket that tells dad that he’s a number one dad.  On this special day made to celebrate dad give him this easy to make handmade card to show your love and appreciation that you have for him.

Create a 4 ½” x 6 ¼” card base from cardstock.  This size of card is also known as an A6 card size.

Cut a 4” x 6” piece of patterned paper (Boardwalk by Bo Bunny shown) and attach it to the base making sure to line the top of the paper up with the top of the card.  For this design there should not be an edge around the top.

Create the solid (blue) collar by cutting a piece of cardstock into a rectangle that measures 3” x 4”.

Place it in your paper trimmer lining the left top corner up with the 2” mark on the trimmer and make the cut down.

Attach the triangular piece using a tape runner to the top of the card making sure to line up the long, straight edge with the top.

Repeat these steps using a 2” x 3” piece of patterned paper and lining it up at the 1 ¾” mark on the trimmer to create the smaller collar piece.

Make 4 pencil marks close to each other as shown in the picture on a piece of scrap paper.  Use a hole punch to punch out the holes. Here are more choices of hole punches to use:  hole punches.

Punch the pieces made in the previous step from the paper using a ½ circle punch to create the buttons for the shirt.  You can, also, use buttons for this step and glue them on.

Attach the buttons down the right side of the shirt using a glue pen.

Now cut a piece of 2” x 3” piece of cardstock (you can also use patterned paper) and make a mark in the middle of the paper.

Rotate it and mark 1” up from the bottom on each side as shown.

Line up one of the marks on the edge and the bottom mark and make the cut.  Line up the second edge mark and the bottom and cut again.  This will create the pocket for the card.  Attach it using a tape runner.  Be sure not to adhere the top of the pocket closed.

Use the ticket punch by Little B to create the tickets.  Tear off one of the ends to give it a torn look.

Finish the outside of the card by stamping “#1 Dad” onto the tickets and placing them into the pocket.  You can, also, use stickers to do this step.

0What father doesn’t love a shirt for Father’s Day even when it is a card?  Tell dad he’s the key to your family with this fun design and happy wishes.  Create one for each of the father’s you know and give them a day of fun and joy.

About Peg

Peg Rounds lives in East Moline, Illinois with her husband and best friend, Kevin and their son Josh and 2 dogs. She was an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom, and later a home school mom. Over the years, she designed cakes on the side and went to school to become a certified chocolatier. She always has loved to craft since she was young and it was something that she wanted to be doing, but set it aside due to her busy life. After 15 years of doing cakes she decided it was time to stop and focus more on her family. She began doing layouts, then cards and it went from there. Before she knew it, next to spending time with her family, she spent every free moment creating something and blogging about it. One thing led to another and here she is today!
