You’re a Star, Dad- Card for Father’s Day

Let Dad know he is one of the stars of the family with this fun card for Father’s Day.  It’s a quick and easy to make if you need more than one, but it expresses the feeling of the day perfectly.  Share with him your love and appreciation for him and all he does with this special card.

Begin by creating a 5” x 7” card base from cardstock.  This one was made using kraft cardstock.  Also, cut using a paper trimmer a 4 ¾” x 6 ¾” piece of cardstock to use on the front of the card.

Cut 2 pieces of twine that each measures 9” long.

Find the center of the twine and tie a knot.  Add some dots of glue to the back of the twine and place it onto the front of the piece of cardstock making sure to line it up towards the left side of the card.  Make sure to leave some spots between the dots of glue so that you are able to slide the layered squares behind them in a later step.

Turn the piece over and add some adhesive from a tape runner to each of the edges.  Wrap the ends of the twine over the edges and adhere to the back.

Attach the piece to the card base.

Cut 3-2” squares from cardstock, 3-1 ¾” squares from patterned paper (Boardwalk by Bo Bunny shown) and attach them to the base with a tape runner.

Cut 3- 1” squares from cardstock and stamp the letters “D-A-D” onto them as shown using a set of alphabet stamps and a black ink pad.  Attach them to the base.

Now, finish the card by die cutting 2 stars using a set of star dies and a die cutting machine.  Attach the stars over the knot in the center of the twine using a 3-adhesive.

Father’s Day is coming quickly so don’t wait and miss the chance to share this awesome card with a special father this Father’s Day.  Show him you appreciate all he does and thank him for just being him with a special handmade card.  Show him he really is a star!

About Peg

Peg Rounds lives in East Moline, Illinois with her husband and best friend, Kevin and their son Josh and 2 dogs. She was an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom, and later a home school mom. Over the years, she designed cakes on the side and went to school to become a certified chocolatier. She always has loved to craft since she was young and it was something that she wanted to be doing, but set it aside due to her busy life. After 15 years of doing cakes she decided it was time to stop and focus more on her family. She began doing layouts, then cards and it went from there. Before she knew it, next to spending time with her family, she spent every free moment creating something and blogging about it. One thing led to another and here she is today!
