Precious Memories Drape Fold Card

Create this beautiful drape fold card for your mom this Mother’s Day.  The folds of a gorgeous sheet of patterned paper is what makes this card and technique truly amazing.  The beauty of folded and draped material can be used on paper, too, with this easy technique.

Begin your card by cutting a piece of cardstock to 4 ½” x 6 ½”.   Score it in half using a scoring board and then fold it on the score line to get a sharp fold.

Now, cut a piece of patterned paper(Precious Memories by Graphic 45 shown) to measure 4” x 7 ¾”.

On the right hand side of the paper measure 1 ½” from the top and make a small pencil mark.

Next, measure 3” from the left side of the paper on the bottom and make another small pencil mark.

Place the paper in your trimmer making sure to line the pencil marks up in the cutting track.  Cut straight down, cutting the corner off at an angle.

Place the paper on your scoring board and score at 3”, 3 ½”, 5” and 6 1/8”.

Fold on the score lines starting with a downward fold on the 3” score line and an upward fold on the 3 ½” score and so on.

Cut a second piece of patterned paper that measures 4 3/8” across by 3” wide.

Add some tape under each flap and adhere them down.

Flip the drape over and add some tape to the backside of it and adhere it to the second piece.  Leave about 2” of the top paper exposed.  Note:  If you are using a patterned that has a specific direction such as the little hearts on this one make sure that it is facing the correct direction.

Flip the piece over and add more tape to the back and then secure it to the card base.

Cover the edge of the paper by adding a piece of ribbon to give it a finished look.

Die cut a piece of cardstock using your favorite die and die cut machineStamp the word, “mom” or “mother” to it and adhere it to the card using a 3-d adhesive.

Finish the front by adding some flowers around the die cut.  Add a sentiment to the inside and you have a gorgeous new card to share with someone special.

The precious memories of a handmade card are unforgettable.  This Mother’s Day tell your mom she’s special with this amazing card.  Happy Mother’s Day to all the great moms out there!

About Peg

Peg Rounds lives in East Moline, Illinois with her husband and best friend, Kevin and their son Josh and 2 dogs. She was an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom, and later a home school mom. Over the years, she designed cakes on the side and went to school to become a certified chocolatier. She always has loved to craft since she was young and it was something that she wanted to be doing, but set it aside due to her busy life. After 15 years of doing cakes she decided it was time to stop and focus more on her family. She began doing layouts, then cards and it went from there. Before she knew it, next to spending time with her family, she spent every free moment creating something and blogging about it. One thing led to another and here she is today!
