Love Letter Scored Frame Card

It’s time to send some love to that special person you know.  This framed card is the perfect way to do that.  Its simple scored frame shows off any of your favorite papers and with the little pocket that is created, it’s the perfect place to tuck a special little love note.

Begin by making a card base from cardstock that measures 5” x 7”.   Open it up and measure 1/8” on each side of the left hand side of the card and make a mark.  Be sure that the marks are erasable so they won’t be seen on the finished card.  You can, also, use a second piece of cardstock or patterned paper to cover that side of the card if you would like.  Now, measure 1/8” in from the first marks you made and make a second mark.

Place the card on a scoring board so that the left side (the side with your measurements) is on the right side.  This will make it easier to begin scoring.  Score the edge of the card first between the two marks closest to the edge.  Repeat this with all of the marks on all sides.  All of the outside marks should meet at the corners and all of the inside marks so meet at the inside corners that are created from scoring.

This is what it should look like at this point.

Cut a piece of patterned paper (Love and Lace Collection by Bo Bunny used) that measures 4 3/8” x 6” and use a tape runner to place it on the front of the card.

Now, cut a piece of cardstock that measures 4 3/8” x 6” and find the center at 2 3/16”.

Place the paper in a paper trimmer and cut into the middle at the half way mark.  Stop at the mark you created in the previous step.

Use the edge of a ruler to fold the flaps back.

Find the center of the corners on the flaps as shown in the picture and make a mark on each flap at those points.  Punch a hole at each mark using a hole punch and then place a brad through each hole.

Attach the folded corner piece over the patterned paper on the card using a tape runner.  Then, glue a piece of ribbon or lace trim from the edge of the folder corner piece to just under the flap edges.

Punch a heart (Heart in Heart Punch by EK used) shape from cardstock and attach it to the card.

Share this wonderful card with someone you love this Valentine’s Day or any time of year.  Hide a special little message in the hidden pocket on the card front.  It’s easy to change the design to make it a card for any occasion, too!

About Peg

Peg Rounds lives in East Moline, Illinois with her husband and best friend, Kevin and their son Josh and 2 dogs. She was an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom, and later a home school mom. Over the years, she designed cakes on the side and went to school to become a certified chocolatier. She always has loved to craft since she was young and it was something that she wanted to be doing, but set it aside due to her busy life. After 15 years of doing cakes she decided it was time to stop and focus more on her family. She began doing layouts, then cards and it went from there. Before she knew it, next to spending time with her family, she spent every free moment creating something and blogging about it. One thing led to another and here she is today! Check out Peg's blog, Peg's Crafting Corner to see what else she has been up to!
