Sizzix Magnetic Platform

Q: What is the purpose of a magnetic platform for a die cut machine?

A:  Magnetic platforms are a nice tool to have because they hold the die into place when running it through the machine.  You will no longer need to use a piece of tape to hold the die in place or worry about it moving and cutting the wrong area of your favorite paper.

Spellbinders Embossing Folder

Q: The embossing folder I’m using I’m using is cutting through the paper.  What can I do to stop this?

A:  There are several things you can try and see what one works best with the paper and folder that you are using.  First, try adding a second lighter weight piece of paper such as vellum in the folder with the piece you are embossing.  Second, try adding a piece of acetate onto the top of the paper you are using.  Spray the paper with a little water or alcohol (it evaporates more quickly than water) onto your paper before embossing.

Cinch Bookbinding Machine

Q: What are some ideas that I can use a Cinch to make?

A:  There are many things you can create using a Cinch machine.  It is perfect to use to make memory books for each of your family members, it’s great for creating teacher’s gifts and books of art containing students work.  Use it to keep your favorite recipes in or one to write down your schedules and appointments.  There are many great accessories you can get to make any project you dream of with a Cinch machine.

We R Memory Album

Q: I like to add a lot of embellishments and memory items with my scrapbook pages, but I’m not sure what type of album would work best to put them into.  Any ideas?

A:  3 ringed albums work great for pages that have a lot of thickness to them.  Pages can be added to these styles of albums and they are roomier than the post type albums.

Embossing

Q: I want to use embossing powder but an not sure what would be a good ink pad to use with it.  Any suggestions?

A:  There are specific embossing pads that have been created to use with embossing powder which make it very easy to use together.  It is a pigment ink pad which is stickier and takes longer to dry.

About Peg

Peg Rounds lives in East Moline, Illinois with her husband and best friend, Kevin and their son Josh and 2 dogs. She was an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom, and later a home school mom. Over the years, she designed cakes on the side and went to school to become a certified chocolatier. She always has loved to craft since she was young and it was something that she wanted to be doing, but set it aside due to her busy life. After 15 years of doing cakes she decided it was time to stop and focus more on her family. She began doing layouts, then cards and it went from there. Before she knew it, next to spending time with her family, she spent every free moment creating something and blogging about it. One thing led to another and here she is today!
