I love a good mug DIY because it’s useful and adds a little more joy to my morning cup of coffee. Personalize it with an inside joke or someone’s name for even more fun. You’ll be surprised at how quickly anyone can create a colorful colorblock mug for your collection.
What You Need:
- Plain White Mug
- Dry Erase Marker or Pencil
- Painter’s Tape
- Alphabet Stickers
- Glass Paint
- Pouncer
How to Make It:
Take your dry erase marker or pencil and mark out a center stripe that is about 2 inches wide.
Tape off your stripe, making sure that the tape on the inside lines are straight. Erase any visible marks.
Spell out your phrase or word with your letter stickers in the center of your stripe.
Take your pouncer and gently dab your paint over the stripe and the letters. Let dry completely before adding extra layers. I did 2 layers.
Once everything is dry, use a toothpick, needle, or the end of a pencil to carefully remove the stickers from the center and peel the tape off.
Oven cure according to glass paint instructions, or let cure the required amount of days.
The texture of the colorblocking is a little rough, which I actually really like. Enjoy with your favorite hot beverage and don’t forget to make one for a friend!
