Our tradition each year is to have all the family over for a meal. We love getting together! This is the only time of the whole year most everyone will be together (each year.) The day is always too short!

Trimming the tree with the entire family. We have ornaments from every vacation and important events such as our wedding and the kids’ births. Such great memories!

I have a really small family, some years we go to the movies on Christmas Eve and we’re usually the only ones there. It’s nice to have the theater all to ourselves 🙂

Contrary to popular choice, Fruit Cake!! Rarely get it however since I have to eat the entire cake.

We use just blue Christmas lights on our tree. We decorate the tree together. We decorate our tree with birds to represent our love ones who have passed away. So I would say decorating our tree,is our family tradition.

We’re still creating new traditions for our daughter – this year my favorite is the activity Advent calendar.

My favorite tradition of Christmas happened when I was younger. When we were kids, my dad would dress up like Santa and come to our house every Christmas eve. He would ask if we had been good or bad (which he already knew!) and tell us to make sure we went to bed early so he could come back to deliver our gifts.
Now, just the tradition of getting together with my family is the greatest gift of all!

I make traditional Christmas breads that my grandmothers used to make. My family looks forward to these treats every year.

Our own family tradition during Christmas is having my children home for Christmas and we put up the Christmas Tree and decorate…

Our Christmas tradition is going to Christmas Eve church service, then coming home and opening one gift.

Our Christmas tradition is to be with family. We joined my family when we were first married, then after our daughter arrived we had my parents join us, now we have become grandparents and join our daughter, her husband and 4 grandchildren. Christmas is the joy of watching and listening to children!

My late husbands mother was from Germany and when he was a very young child she started a tradition with them, apparently in Germany there is a tradition of hiding a pickle ornament on the Christmas tree and whoever finds the pickle first gets to open the first gift. He passed that on to us and we kept that tradition until all of the kids were all grown- even years after he had passed away! I miss that now, it was always so much fun seeing the kids excitedly looking for the pickle on the tree! So last year I made a felt pickle ornament for each of our kids for a Christmas gift!
