As a kid, I’d have a huge ear-to-ear grin on my face while munching on a stick of cotton candy. There was something so irresistible about the deliciously fluffy, sweet and sticky candy clouds on a stick. I wanted to make a pair of earrings that captured the essence of cotton candy and after a bit of brainstorming, I finally came up with an idea.
I bought a package of neon pom-poms a few months ago, with no particular project in mind. They kept staring at me in the face, just begging to be made into something, until I finally thought of it: earrings. These earrings resemble the fluffy stick of cotton candy that made me smile as a kid.
I know that creating earrings out of pom-poms isn’t unique nor is it innovative, but it sure is fun, kind to the wallet and so totally funky.
Pink cotton candy with a stick… how sweet!
What I Used to Make Them:
- Pom-Poms (I used pink and blue for an authentic cotton candy “flavor”)
- Eye PinsSeed Beads (To prevent the eye pin from slipping through the pom-poms)
- Strong Tacky Glue
- Ear Wires and backings
- Jump Rings
- Needle (To pierce hole through pom-poms)
- Wire Cutters
- Needle Nose Pliers
Alternative Post Earring Version:
Cotton candy in my favorite color
I simply glued an earring post to the back of lime green pom-poms to make a pair of cotton candy earrings in my favorite color.
