I love celebrating Valentine’s Day with my daughters and their friends. This year I made a little heart garland using scrap fleece. I think I would work better with felt for stability, but it works!

You Need:

 1. Trace heart pattern onto your felt & cut out numerous hearts! I cut 14.

2. Fold top of heart down about 1/3 its size and make 2 slits. Because of the proportion of the heart, I recommend cutting the slits fairly high—higher than pictured!–otherwise they will hang upside-down.

3. Thread the ribbon through the hearts. Pin them where you want them.

4. Sew a straight seam through the middle of the ribbon to hold the hearts and ribbon in place.

Hang & enjoy!

Valentine Tic Tac Toe

By Crafts for Learning Contributor, Danielle from the blog Crayonbox Learning.

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I find myself drawn to the many things red, pink, and of course chocolate.

The Valentine Magnet or Velcro Tic Tac Toe game was inspired by my memories of having classroom Valentine’s Day parties at school when I was a child. It was the one day of the year when we could have a party in our classroom. We would play games, drink red punch, and hand out Valentine cards to our classmates. The simple things seemed to be the most memorable.

All of the materials for this project are easily found at CreateForLess.

Materials needed:

Valentine Magnet Tic Tac Toe

The first variation is very simple, and can be completed in minutes.

1. Print the game Valentine Tic Tac Toe Template onto magnet paper. Magnet paper is inexpensive, and prints easily on most printers. The game board is provided in 2 colors, and in black and white in case you’d like to color your own.

2. Cut out the individual game pieces.

3. Get ready to play Valentine Magnet Tic Tac Toe.

The magnet markers will stick to the tic tac toe game board. An alternative to keeping the game board loose is to place the whole game onto a cookie sheet, or cookie tin lid to keep the pieces in one place. Another option is to play the game on the side of a refrigerator.

The size of the pieces does require a small parts warning for children under 4 or 5. The templates can be enlarged using the settings on your printer if you prefer a larger size. For my example I used the smaller setting. The game pieces AND board fit on one 8 x 11″ page for the smaller version.

Valentine Velcro Tic Tac Toe

The second variation has a couple more steps, but it is just as easy to put together.

1. Print the Valentine Tic Tac Toe Template onto cardstock.

2. Cut out the individual pieces.

3. I suggestion laminating the game pieces AFTER they were cut out for durability. It will add to the life of the game. The edges will seal perfectly using this method.

4. After the lamination has been completed and the extra lamination film has been cut away from the individual pieces, apply one half of the velcro dots onto the game board.

5. Apply the remaining half of the velcro dots to the game markers.

6. You’re ready to play Valentine Velcro Tic Tac Toe!

To play, the markers will be placed in a space on the game board and will stick to the velcro. This prevents lost pieces, and can even be played in a car.

Valentine Candle

Whether you want to make Valentine’s Day decor for yourself or to give a loved one, creating a heart candle holder is a great option. The neutral colors also make it ideal regardless of the color scheme in your home. It’s an easy project for any age and it requires spending little money.

What you’ll need:

Step 1. Choose the pages to cut your hearts from. I opted for antique French dictionary pages. Draw four hearts on the pages, then cut them out.

Step 2. Use the Mod Podge to adhere one heart to each side of the square glass candle holder.

Step 3. Choose a small round glass candle holder that is already filled with a candle, then place it inside the square candle holder.

Step 4. Put small pebbles all around the round candle holder until it reaches almost to the top.

Step 5. Put gold glitter glue along the top edge of the square candle holder, then smooth it out so it’s not a thick layer. Use the glue to make an outline around each heart. Let it dry completely before using.

Be Mine Valentine Display

By DCWV Diary

We can’t forget about Valentines Day! It’s one of my favorite days to craft for. I created a darling decoration this weekend using our Be Mine Stack.

It is gorgeous and a timeless, classic, gorgeous Valentines line.

Look how pretty a plaque of wood can be! I found this new easel and have decided to craft something for it for each season. I had my husband cut me a scrap piece of wood leftover from a project. It is about 10 inches wide and 12 inches tall. I painted it and then sanded & stained it.

I used doilies and paper from the Be Mine Stack to make a 3D decoration. I folded the hearts in half and hot glued them down right on the folded part. I hand cut the hearts with pinking sheers because I didn’t want them to be perfect! I love how it turned out. I painted the “love” but you could also add alphabet stickers instead. Something about Valentines and handmade things just make me smile :)

By General Crafts Contributor Melissa, from the blog MeloMomma.

What do you do with all the tons of Valentine Cards your child brings home from school? Normally they get tossed after being looked at for a day. Or they get strung through the house making a frightful mess.

Well, I have come up with a fun solution. Not only will you have a place to display your favorite Valentine cards, but you and your child can have fun making this card holder!

Oh, yes, if you were wondering… the clothes pins do still work after being attached to the cookie cutter! This Valentine card holder is adorable, pretty, and 100% functional!

What you will need:

Directions:

Place the clothes pins in a circular shape. Before gluing them, place the cookie cutter on top to assure that they all fit (as shown in photo).

Using a hot glue gun, glue the cookie cutter to the clothes pins.

For added hold glue around the cookie cutter on both the inside and outside.

Cut lace to fit both the inside and outside of the cookie cutter.

Secure the lace with the hot glue gun.
