craft-bloopers_01

We’ve all made mistakes while crafting, and not a single person on this site is allowed to deny it! I’ve personally puff painted my kitchen table AND soccer uniform, melted a chunk of my bedroom carpet, and misspelled words on too many scrapbook pages to count. So, why not reward those who have royally goofed and are still willing to craft with a $100 CreateForLess shopping spree?

Tell us your messiest, most embarrassing, or funniest craft blooper story for your chance to win! Here’s the link:

Craft Bloopers Drawing 2015

It’s that time of year again. The time to embrace our bloopers and tell stories of past mistakes. Not only is this a chance to make each other laugh with our previous blunders, it’s a chance to win a $100 Gift Certificate at CreateForLessThough these bloopers may provide us with laughs, deep down the humor comes with the understanding that we too, have been there. Let us know your biggest or best crafting bloop at the 2015 Craft Bloopers Drawing!

I’ll start with one of my own follies:

One day, returning from the art building at my school where I had been making a notebook using book binding, I went into my room and opened my backpack. To my surprise instead of a pen, I found a mess of rubber cement. I had failed to screw the lid on all the way and my full bottle of rubber cement had spilled all over the contents of my backpack. Luckily this was not the pocket with my textbooks and notes, but rather all of my crafts supplies, pens, and a now very sticky water bottle. I spent the next few hours attempting to do some damage control, but my xacto knife and backpack were never the same. Moral of the story, don’t mess around with rubber cement. I think I almost caused my roommate to pass out just from the fumes.

Dear Santa Sweepstakes Winner!!

dear-santa-header_01

The holiday season may be officially over, but Santa still has one stop left to make – into the inbox of our lucky Dear Santa Sweepstakes winner! This lucky winner can shop for all of the crafty things on her wishlist she didn’t receive this year. So, without further ado, a big congratulations to… Harriet R. from St. Paul, MN! Here’s what Harriet wished for:

Dear Santa,

I have everything I need. I love to crochet and would love to get some yarn to make afghans for children in need in the St. Paul, MN area.

Happy Holidays,

Harriet

Here are some more letters to Santa, full of inspiration and popular craft supplies:

Dear Santa! I absolutely love making things that make my friends, family and co-workers smile. This year I met Tim Holtz at one of the rubber-stamping conventions and I fell in love with all his products and everything Ranger! I would be sOOOOO happy if there was a Vagabond under the tree for me! I’ve been awfully good girl! Merry Christmas Santa and Thank You in advance!

– Laverne S. from Troy, MI

Dear Santa If it is not too much trouble – I would like to have some quilter supplies. Quilting is my new hobby to help relieve stress from work and I have no tools except my sewing machine. I especially would like to have rotary cutter, self healing cutting mat, good pair of fabric scissors and rotary rulers (all shapes – triangle; mini square; standard square and rectangle) I know I have not been good enough for all of these items – but if you could see it in your heart to bring me something on my list I would be happy. P.S. some good cotton fabric and pattern would help too 🙂 Thank you and Merry Christmas Lisa

– Lisa N. from Moscow, ID

Dear Santa… I have been a VERY GOOD GIRL! I’ve been very busy taking care of my 2 daughters, my husband and the pre-schoolers in the daycare at my church. Despite that, I LOVE CRAFTS! I would love for you to put into my stocking: gingher 8 in spring action dressmaker shears, the Olfa Rotary Cutter & Mat Essentials Kit, the Duel Duty XP All Purpose Thread Assortment Pack 50, the Olfa Spinning Rotary Matt 12 in square….actually I would love ANYTHING TO HELP ME “FEED” MY QUILTING OBSESSION!

– Andrea V. from Tucson, AZ

Dear Santa……. I have been pretty good this year, not super-good, but mostly good. Okay….actually kind of naughty sometimes…..like when i craft instead of fixing dinner for my hubby and when I spend $$ on craft items for myself instead of buying Christmas gifts for others! Ha. Here are some thing that I would love to find in my stocking: Embossing powders of all sorts Shimmer mists We R Memory Keepers punchboards of all kinds Spellbinders Dies Thank you, Santa, and all your elves at CreateForLess!!! Love, Janis

– Janis W. from Kamiah, ID

So many fun entries this year! Thank you so much to all who entered and we hope you received everything on your wish list! Congratulations to Harriet!

I’ve been so inspired to get crafting for the holidays after looking through this year’s Handmade Holidays entries. By the end of the month, my home will be a winter wonderland full of crafts inspired by you. After spending way too long oohing and aahing over all of your wonderful projects, I hunkered down and got to work selecting our winner. Congratulations to this year’s randomly selected winner… Brandy W. from Zanesville, OH!

Brandy W - Winner

“For this wall hanging I took a plain white canvas and painted it green and after it was dry I used a Tim Holtz layering stencil for the background. Next, I used Distress Inks on a piece of manila file folder and then embossed it using the Tim Holtz Christmas embossing folder. I then used the following Tim Holtz dies: Window, mini cardinal, garland, crescent moon and stars, stacked boxes. I cut the Christmas tree out with my Cricut.”

Here are some more wonderful entries, and because this blog post would otherwise be way too long, you can see even more on our Facebook.
