Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Create this beautiful wall art as a quick and easy way to share a little love.
Here is what you need to make your own:
- 10 in. Square Art Advantage Artist Canvas
- Paper Accents 12 x 12 in. Reds Stash Pack
- 1 Piece of 12 x 12 in. Printed Valentine’s Day Cardstock (I used a piece from the BoBunny Count the Ways Paper Pad)
- Aleene’s Tacky Glue
- Heart Template
- Circle Templates
Start by cutting out your heart template from a piece of solid red cardstock. Any shade will do.
Then it is time to start making your paper roses. These roses are surprisingly easy to make, start by cutting out some circles.
The cut the circle into a spiral from outside to center, leaving a small circle in the middle (this will become the base of the flower). These do not have to be perfect, trust me.
Then start rolling your rose. Roll from the outside in (Using a toothpick can help a little getting the rolling started). When you get to the center, release the roll just a bit allowing it to loosen just a bit.
Add a dab of glue to your circle/base. The press the flower down onto the glue and hold for a few seconds. Yay flower! Continue to make flowers until you have enough to cover your heart.
After I had several flowers done I started to arrange them on my heart so I could see how things would fit together and to help decide what sizes of flowers I wanted to make.
Glue all the flowers to the heart.
Cut a piece of Printed Paper to fit your canvas. For a 10 inch canvas, cut the paper into a 9 1/2 inch square. And glue to the canvas. You can use regular glue or even Mod Podge for this.
Then glue your heart onto the canvas.
And then you are done. Enjoy!
