Get a head start on your holiday gift making with this easy, and pretty project.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- Country Lane Candle Making Kit Aromatherapy Votive Palm Wax
- Whole spices–cinnamon sticks, star anise, cloves
- Coffee mug, or tea cup
- Pot to boil water in on the stove
- FloraCraft Burlap Ribbon 5 in x 10 yd. Garland Natural
To begin, add your wax to the melting pitcher, as described in the directions that come with the kit. Fill your pot with water, place the melting pitcher full of wax granules inside the pot to form a double boiler in which you will melt your wax. Melt your wax according to directions.
While the wax is melting, make sure your wick is the correct length for your mug.
Once the wax is melted, add your scent, and color.
Pour the melted wax into your mug, let it sit 5 minutes, and then carefully insert your wick into the center of your candle.
Let your wax begin to harden, until you can see that it is beginning to form a skin on the top. At this point, carefully push your whole spices onto the top surface of your candle. Then let your candle harden entirely.
To decorate, cut a piece of burlap to fit around the middle of your mug, and tie into place with a length of raffia.
These spicy scented candles would make a nice little gift for a teacher, neighbor, or to take as a hostess gift to holiday parties–or maybe you just want to burn one in your own home to create a cozy holiday feeling.
Happy Holiday Crafting!
