With Fall on the way, this Sponge Painted Autumn Tree is a perfect craft to do this upcoming season! It’s super unique and fun because you’re using the sponge to paint the tree with bright reds, oranges, yellows and greens!
You’ll need:
- Paper plates
- Brown cardstock
- Washable kids paint (orange, brown, yellow, red, green)
- Craft scissors
- Sponge
- Glue
Step one:
Cut the sponge into a long strips, approximately 1 x 2. This makes them easier to hold.
Step two:
Place a bit of each paint color onto a paper plate and arrange the sponge “paintbrushes”.
Step three:
Paint a clean paper plate using all of the paint colors by making a dabbing motion with the sponge. Let dry.
Step four:
While the paper plate tree is drying, make the tree trunk. Cut a large rectangle making it a bit wider towards the bottom, out of brown cardstock. Glue to the back of the tree once the tree dried.
This craft makes a wonderful art project for preschool, kindergarten and homeschool! Enjoy this Autumn season and have fun creating these beautiful Autumn trees!
