Layering stamps are so much fun to work with, especially with different techniques.  For today’s project, I’m using my favorite heat embossing technique with the Color Layering Birthday Cake stamp set from Hero Arts.  Keeping the project clean and simple highlights these cute stamps even more!

It’s really helpful to have a stamp positioner, so I’m using my We R Memory Keepers Precision Press Advanced.  I’m also using Memento ink in Toffee Crunch for the cake layer, then Memento pigment inks for the frosting.

I used a mix of Dandelion, Bahama Blue and Rose Bud to stamp the frosting, then heat embossed with clear powder.

I love the way that looks!

After adding the candles, I played with the pieces of cake and the sentiment for quite a while trying to get the perfect clean and simple design layout.  Don’t be afraid to walk away and come back to the project.  Sometimes it’s all you need to get that perfect placement.

I ended up adhering the cake pieces like little stair steps around the sentiment using various levels of foam tape.

I added a sentiment and some little sparklers from the set to the inside of the card.

Looks good enough to eat with those delicious frosting colors.  Thanks so much for joining me today!
