A Cup of Thanks

While shopping during the holidays, I’ve come across a lot of plaid patterns in kitchen dishes and textiles.  I held myself back from starting a collection of plaid coffee cups—they’re so cozy and festive!  My card today is inspired by those plaid cups though, and I’m using a really fun set of chipboard shapes from Paper Accents called Cup & Cocoa to create a card with lots of texture.  How cute are those little marshmallows?

To prep the whipped cream and marshmallows, I painted them with a mixture of white acrylic paint and Stickles glitter glue for some sparkle.

I traced the cup onto some Here Comes Santa paper from Photoplay using a white gel pen.

To trim out the inside of the cup and handle, I cut a small slit and then used my scissors to cut around.

I painted the steam using silver metallic acrylic paint and the hot cocoa piece using Rose Gold Liquid Pearls.

I assembled the cup onto a panel of teal cardstock and added a sentiment from Avery Elle’s Tea Time stamp set to the front of the cup.  For a little bit of white space, I added the entire panel to a white notecard.

These thick, chipboard pieces would look great on tags as well.  I love how you can start with a blank canvas and add your own special touches to these cute shapes.  Thanks so much for joining me today!
