Inner Princess Tutu

This Inner Princess Pink tutu is perfect for a little princess in your life – especially with its bejeweled tulle!

This easy no-sew project starts with the Jesse James Dress It Up Inner Princess Pink kit – which comes with a pink elastic waistband and the packet of buttons and jewels. I used four colors of Offray Tulle 6 inch x 24 yards: French Pink, Pink, White, and Glitz Silver. Warning: While the Glitz Silver tulle adds a fabulous touch of bling – it leaves silver glitter everywhere!

Other supplies included a rotary cutter or scissors to cut the tulle, a tape measure to measure the tulle strips, and glue for adhering the buttons. I used Jewel It but a low temperature glue gun could work too. The crown patch shown in the photo above was not used but would look cute on a coordinating top or crown.

I paired the Pink and Glitzy Silver together and the French Pink and White together and cut lots of 30″ strips. That length was a guess but it worked out okay for a six-year-old girl. It helped to have few paired with a slight twist in the center to facilitate insertion into the elastic.

After folding the tulle strips in half and twisting it…

I inserted the loop into a hole in the bottom of the elastic…

and pulled the tulle through the loop.

Alternating the paired strips worked well. I added lots of strips – more than the spaced holes in the elastic. I sort of stretched a new hole between each of the open spaces in the elastic. I could have used three spools and used less strips, but I wanted it to be full. I still had some tulle in each color left over.

Here is the skirt before it the jewels and buttons were added.

I placed the buttons on the waistband with glue and/or sewing. The jewels on the skirt were attached with Jewel It – doing a section at a time so the glue could dry.

It was a hit with our princess! Just hope her Mom forgives me for the silver glitter!

In addition the Inner Princess Pink

it also comes in Blue Magic.
