Simple Circular Brick Stitch Earrings

I am having so much fun beading lately, and I am excited to share with you my latest creation! These earrings are make by doing a brick stitch around a quick link using seed beads. I kept them simple, and they go with just about everything!

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:

Directions:

Start by cutting a long piece of the beading thread (mine was about 5 feet long). Then you are going to tie the thread to one of the round Quick Links.

Take 2 seed beads, and string them on, bringing them all the way down to the the quick link.

Take your needle and stick in through the quick link (from back to front) and then through the top bead (from top to bottom).

Hold the bead in place, and pull your beading thread tight. Your beads now should be laying next to each other, against the quick link.

Pick up another bead, and pull it down. Again, take your needle and stick it through the quick link (from back to front) and then through the bead you just added (from top to bottom). Hold the bead in place, and pull your beading thread tight. You should now, have 3 beads in place against the quick link.  (This is a brick stitch!)

Continue adding beads until you make your way around the quick link. To finish off the row pull your needled through the 1st bead on the row (from top to bottom) and then come back up the last bead on the row (from bottom to top). This will not only connect the row together, but will help to “even out” any space that is left between the 2 beads.

To start the next row, string on 2 beads. Now instead of pulling your needle through the quick link, you are going to pull it (from back to front) through the thread (exposed loop) between the 1st and 2nd beads on the base row. Then you are again pull your needle through the top bead (from top to bottom). Pull tight, you should now have 2 beads on your 2nd row.

Pick up another bead, and pull it down. Again, take your needle and stick it through the next exposed loop (from back to front) and then through the bead you just added (from top to bottom). Pull tight.

Continue around to complete the 2nd row, increasing as needed. To increase you simple complete another brick stitch through the same exposed loop as you last stitch.

Repeat until you have 5 rows. Finishing off each row by pulling your needled through the 1st bead on the row (from top to bottom) and then come back up the last bead on the row (from bottom to top).

To add a decorative edge to your earrings, string on 3 beads, then pull your needle down through (from top to bottom) the next bead on the row below. Pull tight, this will from a sort of scalloped edge!

The pull your needle up (from bottom to top) the next bead, and repeat. String on 3 beads, then pull your needle down through (from top to bottom) the next bead on the row below. Pull tight. Continue all the way around.

To finish of the beading, weave your thread through several sets of beads as a way to “tie” off.

Then all you have to do is to attach the ear wires with a jump ring, and ENJOY!

This earrings are actually fairly easy to make, and the possibilities are endless. Try some different sized beads, or any color you would like!

Thank you – this is such a cute project.
I wondered if you could possible make the directions in pdf format? That way they could easily be read on a Kindle or other reader, or printed out, to follow while making the earrings.
