I created a mini card set using my Nuvo drops as paint for my tiny “canvases”.
To start, I created four 4-bar note cards from white card stock. This size ends up being 3.5” x 4.7/8”. A cute size for sending a quick “hello” or “thanks”. I used my paper trimmer to first cut my card stock at 7” vertically, then, 4 7/8” horizontally. I cut the card stock again horizontally at 4 7/8” for a second card.
Using my Scor-Buddy, I scored each card horizontally at 3 ½”.
I also cut four panels for the Nuvo Drops—each 4”x 2 ¾”.
I gathered up my Nuvo Crystal Drops and created 4 color combos of 3 colors using my Color Wheel as a guide. I’m not an expert at using the wheel, but just by turning it and trying the colors together, I get inspired.
These are the color combos I chose for the Nuvo Drops:
- Ripened Pumpkin, Crushed Grape, Caribbean Ocean
- Red Berry, Ripened Pumpkin, Caribbean Ocean
- Red Berry, Apple Green, Crushed Grape
- Apple Green, Dandelion Yellow, Crushed Grape
After choosing my combos, I squeezed the colors onto my card panels turning my panel as I changed colors. You want to be sure you’re squeezing the drops evenly around to cover the panel and making kind of a “cross-hatch” pattern.
I set the panels to dry overnight and got to work on my sentiments.
I created my own sentiments using Avery Elle’s Modern Calligraphy stamp set. These stamps line up perfectly and have a beautiful brush-lettered script.
I used my stamp platform to stamp the letters one at a time to spell “thanks” on some white card stock. I stamped each letter twice on the card in different areas to save time. I also lined them up angling down, in order to trim them for my final card.
After stamping my sentiments, I trimmed them with my trimmer at an angle. I added the word “hello” too—which you see in the final photos for something different.
For a fun effect, I trimmed out coordinating colors of foam to raise my panels up on the card.
After adding the foam to my now dry Nuvo panels, I adhered the sentiments with foam squares.
The Nuvo Drops on the panels dried perfectly and remained raised. I really like how these turned out.
Thanks so much for joining me today. I hope I inspired you to try new things with your Nuvo Drops. Have a great day!
