Summer is here and it’s time to make some memories! What better way to keep track of all your pictures than in a mini book? I was inspired by this gorgeous scrapbook kit from Carta Bella called Summer Splash and decided to create a quick and easy book that would be perfect for documenting summer adventures with pictures and journaling. I kept it easy by using a spiral bound, blank keepsake book from Paper Accents along with the kit and other embellishments from the Summer Splash collection. The colors are so bright and fun, I couldn’t wait to put this book together!
For the cover, I used a variety of embellishments from the Summer Splash Ephemera and Frames and Tags packs. I adhered them in a collage style all over the front. This book is nice because the cover is bright white and made of sturdy chipboard so the colors really “pop”.
For the inside of the cover, I adhered some 12×12 paper from the kit. I first cut the paper to 6.5”x 4.5” and punched the side facing in with my We R Memory Keepers Planner Punch using the spiral punch. After fitting it into the book, I added tape runner adhesive to secure down the paper to the cover.
The inside pages are bright white and will fit a standard 4×6 picture with a little room to spare. I decided to create some dividers to kind of break up the summer into four sections. The first section is for pictures of fun, relaxing things you do in the summer, the second is for pool time, the third is for vacation (beach in this case) and the last section is for a little wrap up of summer fun. Maybe those extra pictures you aren’t sure what to do with.
To create my dividers, I used these little bags from Paper Accents and punched holes in the side with my spiral planner punch.
They pop right into the book after you punch them and are great for keeping memorabilia from summer outings.
I decorated the fronts and backs of each of the four bags using more ephemera and paper from the Summer Splash collection. I added some chipboard stickers as well.
I added some strips of paper to the tops of certain pages using the Summer Splash 6×6 paper pad. This would be a good place for journaling.
Throughout the book, I popped in little tags and ephemera to kind of break it up and add interest.
I kept this book pretty simple, but you could go all out with the decoration. It’s so easy to make these books using a themed scrapbook kit that you like. You could do one for every season or event. Thanks so much for joining me today!
