Valentine’s Day may be over, but love is still all around us.  Tell someone that you love them any time of the year with this special card.  It also doubles as a great card for a wedding or wedding shower.  Having a do it yourself wedding?  This would be a perfect program cover to hand out to all of your guests.

This is a 5” x 7” card base that was created from cardstock.  You can create the base in any size that you enjoy to make.  Cut a piece of your favorite patterned paper to fit the base.  This piece was cut to 4 ½” x 6 ½”.  Also, cut a single piece of cardstock to be your layer for creating.  The cardstock piece shown was cut to 4” x 6”.

Now, take a piece of scrap cardstock and roughly tear it to cover the bottom part of your creative layer.  Using your blending tool, start with a light color of ink (pink was used here) for your sky.  Then, along the edges darken them using a darker color in the same color palette.  Here a darker pink ink was used.

Finish the sky by adding a third light color ink different from the first two used.  Blue was added here for more of a sunrise/sunset sky.  Try to keep this color more in the center of the work.

Go in from the bottom and add the ink color you have chosen for the ground.  Depending on the look you want to achieve this can be green for spring or summer or even left white for a winter look.  Be sure to get up to and go lightly over the sky area to blend the colors at the horizon line.

This is your background for your card.  Use a tape runner to attach it to the card base.

Die cut a tree using a tree die and your die cutting machine.  Attach it to the background you created in the previous steps with a glue pen.

Punch or die cut several hearts from vellum or cardstock.  Attach them in and around the tree using a tape runner.  If using vellum be sure to use a tape runner created for vellum.

Stamp the sentiment onto the bottom using either a sentiment stamp or alphabet stamp set and then finish the inside with a stamped message, too.

No matter what event you are planning or occasion you need a card for this is the perfect one to share the love.  Love is all around all year long and any time is the perfect time to show it.  Create this cute card and keep it on hand for those times that you need to share a little love.

About Peg

Peg Rounds lives in East Moline, Illinois with her husband and best friend, Kevin and their son Josh and 2 dogs. She was an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom, and later a home school mom. Over the years, she designed cakes on the side and went to school to become a certified chocolatier. She always has loved to craft since she was young and it was something that she wanted to be doing, but set it aside due to her busy life. After 15 years of doing cakes she decided it was time to stop and focus more on her family. She began doing layouts, then cards and it went from there. Before she knew it, next to spending time with her family, she spent every free moment creating something and blogging about it. One thing led to another and here she is today!
