Make a cute decoration that makes a big statement, with this easy project.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- Paper plates with white backs (The ones that curve up and have a bit of a rim around the edge)
- Acrylic craft paint
- Hand saw
- Cello Wrap 30 in. x 5 ft. Solid Clear (I used clear, but you could do iridescent, or colored, if desired)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Tinsel stems
- Hareline Dubbin Cactus Chenille Large Pearl
- Satin Ribbon
To begin, you’ll need 2 paper plates for each lollipop you make. Paint matching colored stripes on the BACK of each set of plates. Let dry.
Figure out how long you want your lollipop sticks, and cut to size. Paint white, if desired. Let dry.
Use your scissors to snip two 1/2-inch long slits the width of your stick apart in each plate Fold the resulting tab backwards.
Use your hot glue to glue the plates together along the rims, with the slots you cut for the stick aligned.
Insert the stick into the lollipop, use hot glue to adhere the stick to the tabs on the plates that you folded inward.
Run more hot glue around the outside of the stick hole to secure.
Unroll the cellophane, place your lollipop on top, and cut a piece large enough to wrap around the plates.
Place the lollipop in the center of the piece of cellophane, pull the cellophane tightly around the plates, and bunch around the stick at the base of the “candy.” Secure at the top with a tinsel stem, twisting to secure.
Tie a bow around the twisted cellophane, if desired, to further embellish.
Stick your lollipops in flowerpots as decorations for your porch, make them into arrangements, or even just stick them into the Christmas tree–there are so many possibilities for these cuties!
