When I’m traveling, I don’t have a great system for stowing all of my cords. I carry chargers, headphones, and other cables with me because I need them, but they tend to end up in a ball at the bottom of my bag. I wanted to find a simple solution to keep my cords organized and easily accessible.
These citrus cord wranglers are easy to make, inexpensive, and most importantly, adorable. You’ll have fun making different colors for all of your cords!
What You Need:
- Felt Sheets in White and Various Citrusy Colors
- Fabric Glue (Permanent and high quality)
- Hot Glue
- Disc Magnets
How to Make Them:
Make yourself some templates from a piece of scrap paper. I traced the inside and outside of an almost used roll of masking tape. You want about 1/4 inch peeking out from the larger circle when it’s staked under the smaller circle. Trace 2 smaller circles and cut it into wedges. You don’t have to be precise, that’s actually not a bad thing because you’ll want the smallest triangle out of your traced wedges.
Cut out your templates: 2 circles and a wedge.
Use your templates as guides for your felt pieces. You want 1 large circle and 7 – 8 wedges in your citrus color and 1 small circle in white. I rounded the corners of my wedge and was able to fit 7 wedges on my circle when they were cut.
Glue your white circle on top of your citrus circle with fabric glue.
Add your wedges with a little space in between each one. Place something flat and heavy on top like a book and let dry a few hours to overnight.
Stack 2 magnets on top of each other. Make sure the sides are attracted to each other. Flip over your citrus slice so the “wrong side” is facing you and hot glue your magnets to the top, leaving about 1/8 – 1/4 inch space from the edge.
Add a dot of hot glue to the second magnet that’s stacked on your first.
Quickly fold the other end of your circle over the magnet so it’s folded in half.
To use, just coil your cords, place them around your magnet, and fold it over!
