Celebrate any occasion with this easy Dutch Fold Card tutorial.

Any time of year is a time to celebrate, but it is particularly true during the summer months with birthdays, graduations and many more occasions.  This Dutch Fold card is a great addition to the party and to your card design list.  It’s quick and easy to make for the many cards you will be needing so now is the time to make them ahead and have them ready for the next celebration invitation you receive.

Begin by cutting one piece of cardstock with your paper trimmer that measures 4 ¼” x 5 ½” and another one that is 2 ¼” x 11”.

Score the 2 ¼” x 11” piece at 5 ½” using a scoring board.  Fold it at the score line.

Now attach a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” patterned paper to the larger piece of cardstock cut previously.  Attach it using a tape runner.  The paper shown in the picture is from the Summer Dreams collection by Echo Park.  Also, add a 2” x 5 ¼” piece to the front of the scored strip.

Add some tape using the tape runner to the right half of the second piece.

Turn both pieces over and line the strip of cardstock up with the bottom of the larger piece.  Make sure that you have the pattern on the patterned paper facing the correct direction before you add the strip to the back.

Use your favorite die set and die cutting machine to cut 3 consecutive sized shapes from cardstock and layer them on top of one another securing them with the tape.

Stamp a sentiment in ink on the top layer as shown.

Create two tickets using a die or punch and attach them to the card.  Stamp another fun sentiment onto the top ticket.

You can cut a piece of cardstock and add a final sentiment to it and adhere it to the larger piece, but this card looks more fun leaving the paper showing.  The sentiment can be stamped on the inside of the flap piece or on the back of the card to finish it.

Whether now is the time for a celebration or any time of year, this fun card will be perfect for any occasion.  Need one for another theme?  This fold will work for that, too.  The possibilities for decorating are unlimited with this great design!

About Peg

Peg Rounds lives in East Moline, Illinois with her husband and best friend, Kevin and their son Josh and 2 dogs. She was an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom, and later a home school mom. Over the years, she designed cakes on the side and went to school to become a certified chocolatier. She always has loved to craft since she was young and it was something that she wanted to be doing, but set it aside due to her busy life. After 15 years of doing cakes she decided it was time to stop and focus more on her family. She began doing layouts, then cards and it went from there. Before she knew it, next to spending time with her family, she spent every free moment creating something and blogging about it. One thing led to another and here she is today!
