Father’s Day is fast approaching so now is the time to be creating those special cards for the fathers you know. This year give dad ice cream for his day with this fun ice cream cone card. The clean and simple look of this card is what helps to make the delicious ice cream cone stand out, but the card base has a little twist and will add to the fun design of the whole piece.
First, cut a 6” x 12” piece of cardstock and score it at 6”. Fold the base at the score line. Now with the fold on the right, measure 1 ½” down from the fold and make a small mark.
Move the ruler to the bottom (the fold will still be on your right) and measure and make a mark 3 ½” down from the fold.
Place the cardstock in the paper trimmer, lining up the two marks in the cutting groove and cut the paper.
You will now have a piece of cardstock that looks like this. Lay this piece aside for a little later.
Create a 6” square card base. The fold should be at the top of the card.
Open the flap that you created on the first piece and add some adhesive to the back of the piece as shown.
Place the card base inside the piece with the flap making sure that it is completely lined up. Add some more tape to the flap and adhere it down to the front of the card.
Also, cut 3 scoops of ice cream from patterned paper (this sheet is from the Summer Dreams line) and stack them on top of the cone using the tape runner to attach them to each other and onto the card.
Finish of the inside of the card with your favorite sentiment.
What dad doesn’t love a special treat? Send him a special treat in the form of this card with your love and ice cream this Father’s Day. The smiles that will be shown when this card is opened you’ll be glad you did!
