The weather is heating up! Grab one of these fun paper fans!

This DIY paper fan is fun and simple to make and you can use it to cool you down on a hot summer day.

You will need:

Step 1:

Fold up a piece of paper with a concertina fold using the whole sheet. Press down each time you make a fold to make sure it stays folded. Repeat this with another sheet of paper.

Step 2:

Take one of the concertina folded pieces of paper that you have created and bend it in half. Then stick the parts of the paper that meet together using double sided tape, creating a semi circle fan. Repeat this with the other folded piece of paper so you have two semi circles.

Step 3:

Place the two semi circles together so that the ends of each meet together. Using double sided tape, stick two ends of the semi circles together, leaving the other two open.

Step 4:

Fold the paper up and stick a wooden craft stick on either side to create the handles for the fan. Then cut a small strip of paper and stick it together using tape to create a small loop. You can use this loop to hold the two handles together.

Cute and simple! This craft opens up all sorts of possibilities for decorating, the way fans have been decorated traditionally, or simply using scrapbooking paper with a pattern on each side. I think a ScorPal or similar tool would make the folding fast and accurate. Perhaps for children, an adult could score with wide pleats, then let the children fold it, according to their ability. Could be a fun party activity with the results used as decorations, then a take home gift.
