This card has a simple and easy to create design for any occasion

Send someone a thank you with this bright and cheery double pleated card.  Need cards for other occasions?  It works perfectly for those, too.  This simple, but eye catching design is great for any theme or occasion.  You will love having it on your list of card ideas and it’s easy to make!

Using your paper trimmer cut the following pieces:  one piece of cardstock that measures 8 ½” x 5 ½” for the card base, one piece of cardstock that measures 3 ½” x 5” and a piece of patterned paper (Cream & Sugar by Doodlebug shown) that measures 10” x 5”.

Place the patterned paper on a scoring board and score at 1”, 1 ½”, 2 ½”, 3”, 4”, 4 ½”, 5 ½”, 6”, 7”, 7 ½”, 8 ½” and 9”.

Now, measure the paper on the 10” side and make a mark at 4 ½” and 5 ½”.  Repeat this step on the bottom.

Next, rotate the paper so that the 5” side is at the top and mark 2” and 3”.  Repeat this step on the bottom of the paper, too.

Place the paper in a paper trimmer lining up the mark on the side with the nearest one on the top and cut the corner off.  Do this for the rest of the corners.

This is what the paper will look like at this point.

Fold the piece on the first fold nearest the center almost in half as shown.

Continue to fold the score lines as shown working from the center out and then repeat it on the other side.

Add lines of tape from a tape runner onto the back to hold the folds down.

Attach the double pleat to the 3 ½” x 5” piece of cardstock that was cut earlier and attach it with the tape runner.  If necessary, you can trim off any parts that hang over.  This was caused by not getting the folds exactly lined up, but that’s okay.

Add it to the card base which has been scored and folded in half.

Add a 1” x 3 ½” strip over the center.

Die cut two consecutive sized shapes with a die cut machine.

Stamp the sentiment onto the smallest shape and adhere it over the strip using a 3-d adhesive.

Finish the inside of the card as you would like using a sentiment stamp or sticker.

It’s great for any occasion where you need to say thanks or simply change the sentiment and use if for another occasion.  Add your favorite embellishments like the ones from the Cream & Sugar line to add a totally different look to it.  Whether it’s dressed up or down this card will surely be a hit!

About Peg

Peg Rounds lives in East Moline, Illinois with her husband and best friend, Kevin and their son Josh and 2 dogs. She was an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom, and later a home school mom. Over the years, she designed cakes on the side and went to school to become a certified chocolatier. She always has loved to craft since she was young and it was something that she wanted to be doing, but set it aside due to her busy life. After 15 years of doing cakes she decided it was time to stop and focus more on her family. She began doing layouts, then cards and it went from there. Before she knew it, next to spending time with her family, she spent every free moment creating something and blogging about it. One thing led to another and here she is today!
