Make a pretty centerpiece for your fall table with this no-sew felt project.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- Felt squares: 1 Cream, 2 Purple, 1 Orange, 1 Red, 1 Green, 1 Brown, and 1 Gold.
- Aleene’s Permanent Fabric Glue.
- Sewing pins.
- Compass and/or Ruler.
- White colored pencil.
- Squirrel PDF.
- Waxed paper.
To begin, print Squirrel PDF and cut out the squirrel and heart patterns. Pin the squirrel to you brown fabric, and carefully cut out around the pattern to make your first squirrel. You can also use your white pencil or a pen to trace the pattern onto the felt, and then cut them out–whichever way you find easier. Cut 8 squirrels. From your red, cut 4 hearts.
From your red, yellow, gold and green, cut a whole bunch of 1-inch sized leaves. You can be as fancy as you want, I just made mine a basic leaf shape.
From your cream colored felt, measure and cut a 9-inch circle. Take your two pieces of purple felt, and butt the long-sides right up next to each other. Using that edge as your center, trace out a 12-inch circle (one half on each piece of purple felt). Cut them out. Glue the cream circle on top of the purple circle. Let dry.
Glue your leaves onto the cream circle, layering them on top of each other, so they look like they’ve been randomly falling off of the trees. Let dry.
Arrange your squirrels in pairs around the purple circle, so the tops of their heads and tails are butted up against the cream circle. Place them close enough together so their noses are just touching, and place a heart between each of them. Arrange them first, then glue. Let dry.
Place a sheet of waxed paper on top of your mat, and then place something flat and heavy on top of your mat, like a book, to help hold it together while it dries. Let dry.
Put a jar candle on your festive fall mat, and enjoy!
