Here’s a great boredom buster for kids that’s easy to do, is not messy, and doesn’t involve a lot of supplies, or set up.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- Plain white paper.
- Pencil sharpener.
To begin, fold your paper in half, it doesn’t matter which way. Open up the paper, and on side of the fold, color the paper so it is completely covered with crayon.
Press firmly, as you want the wax to go on as thickly as possible. Try to really cover every bit of the paper with heavy color.
Fold the paper back in half on the fold, and on the outside, use a nice, sharp pencil to draw a picture. Be sure to press down firmly as you draw, so your color transfers well.

Open up your paper, and see your drawings in beautiful colors! Experiment with different colors. Which ones transfer the best? If you write words on one blank side of the paper, they’ll transfer as a mirror image. Can you figure out which side of the paper, if you write words on, they transfer so you can read them correctly?
