Hearts and Lace Embossed Card

This white on white gatefold card is the perfect gift for a late Valentine’s Day, a wedding or any occasion that requires a delicate style for a card.  The embossed doily can be created to stand out more by the addition of glitter or glitter glue.  No matter what day it is used for it will definitely show love.

For this white on white card, begin by cutting a piece of card stock that measures 6 ¼” x 9 ½” and score it at 2 3/8” and 7 1/8” using a scoring board (Martha Stewart Scoring Board).

Place the scored card inside of the Doily Art Embossing Folder by Spellbinders by sliding the backside of the folder inside of the card base as shown.  The flaps to the card should be on the inside of the folder and the back of the card should be behind the folder.  Now, run it through your die cutting/ embossing machine.

Cut a circle using a 2” punch or circle die (Standard Circle by Spellbinders with the Grand Calibur Die Cutting Machine used) from a piece of white card stock.

Carefully line up the circle in the center of the doily embossing folder and run it through the die cut/embossing machine to emboss it.  Remember as you move the folder to place it in the machine not to allow the circle to move or it will not emboss the center of the doily.

Now, add some glitter using glue or use glitter glue (Stickles) by placing small dots around the embossed circle.  Use a paint brush to spread the glitter out to the edges of the circle.  Add more dots as needed to cover the entire area.

Apply the glitter to the doily, as well, to make it sparkle.

Punch a heart (Medium Heart by Martha Stewart) from card stock and attach it to the circle.  Then, attach the circle to one side of the card opening so that it is in the center of the doily using a tape runner.

This delicate card is perfect for any occasion and adds a shine to any event.  The beauty of it is not only in the design, but in the fact it is handmade.  There’s no better way to show love than a special card.

About Peg

Peg Rounds lives in East Moline, Illinois with her husband and best friend, Kevin and their son Josh and 2 dogs. She was an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom, and later a home school mom. Over the years, she designed cakes on the side and went to school to become a certified chocolatier. She always has loved to craft since she was young and it was something that she wanted to be doing, but set it aside due to her busy life. After 15 years of doing cakes she decided it was time to stop and focus more on her family. She began doing layouts, then cards and it went from there. Before she knew it, next to spending time with her family, she spent every free moment creating something and blogging about it. One thing led to another and here she is today!
