If you have a creative child around, there are many great craft supplies to keep them busy, and keep you worry-free. Keep the right supplies on hand, and crafting with your kid can be fun and help you build memories that can last well into their lives.
Tin cans make a great go-to supply that most everyone has on hand. Instead of just tossing your cans into the trash, consider saving them for those “I’m Bored” rainy days. Keep the kids safe by removing sharp edges before setting them aside! Just sand all cut ends with a coarse sandpaper until all sharp edges are gone! Cans are a great supply to allow kids to decorate on their own. They can use the finished products to organize, but here are a few other craft ideas:
These will be great to have on hand come springtime, but I also think that a unique recycled bird feeder would make a meaningful holiday gift for a grandparent. The kids will need a little help when dealing with the cans, but kids can paint their flowers whatever color they like, then display them in the yard come spring.
Tin Can Snowman – Hands On as We Grow
Here’s a great craft to show off now! If the kids can’t wait for it to start snowing, give them an opportunity to enjoy making a snowman a little earlier. Not only is this snowman adorable, but he’s also a wind chime to ring in the holiday season!
Mr. Recycle Head Man – Delia Creates
If your child loves the Mr. Potato Head dolls, give them a chance to create their own with this fun craft! Not only do they get a cool toy out of the deal, but they’ll learn about recycling and gardening along the way!
Tin Can Christmas Tree – Babble Dabble Do
Keeping with the holiday theme, let the kids enjoy decorating a Christmas tree all on their own. Search for little odds and ends like buttons and yarn and let the kids go crazy!
Tin Can Drums – (Cool) Progeny
Let the kids design their own instruments with this easy kids’ craft. Not only are they fun to make, but the kids can be creative with the instruments long after the crafting is over!
