Oh Baby! Onesie Card

Is there a baby in your future?  Whether you need a card to make the announcement or say congratulations, this card is perfect for the occasion.  It’s a great card for a little girl or boy or even to keep everyone guessing what the baby will be before it arrives just by the colors you choose to create it.

a

The card base is created using a piece of card stock that has been cut to 4 ¼” x 11” using a paper trimmer and then folded in half to create a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” base.  Get a crisp fold by using a scoring board to create the fold.  Cut another piece of patterned paper that measures 3 ¾” x 4 ¾” and attach it to the card base using a tape runner.  The Bundle of Joy by Doodlebug was the piece used for this project.

m

Trace the onesie template onto a piece of patterned paper.  Doodlebug’s Sugar and Spice line was used here.

c

Cut the onsie out using a pair of scissors.  The Martha Stewart Precision Craft scissors were used because they are a small pair of scissors which work well to get into the small areas.  Lay this piece aside.

i

Cut a bib from a piece of card stock using the second to smallest die from the Labels Four die set by Spellbinders and a die cut machine.

d

g

Fold the piece in half and place just the edge of it slightly into a circle punch.   A 1” punch is shown in the picture.

f

Once the piece is punched out, you will have the bib which will look like this.  Lay this aside until later.

h

Punch the letters from card stock using the Martha Stewart Alphabet Punch set.  You will need enough to spell the words, “Oh Baby” and a single letter “B” to place on the bib.

oh baby!

Place the letters in a Xyron (Mini Maker used) to add adhesive to the back of them.

b

Cut 2 pieces of card stock….one that measures 1 ½” x 2” and one that measures 1 ¼” x 1 ¾”.  Layer the smaller piece on top of the larger one using a tape runner.   Adhere the “Oh, Baby” letters onto it and then place it in the right hand bottom corner of the card.   Also, place the letter “B” on the bib to finish it off.

z

Glue a piece of twine from one side of the card to the other allowing it to hang down in the center.  This will resemble a clothesline.

l

Add some tape to the back of the onsie and attach it over the top of the twine.

k

Now, add some tape to the back of the bib and hang it over the twine.

Add a stamped message, stickers or some of the other fun baby themed products from Create for Less to finish off the inside of the card.

Celebrate the joy of a new baby by giving this card to the special parents or use it to announce you the joy of your own.  Make more than one and use them for invitations for a baby shower.  No matter how it is used, this card will bring joy to everyone.

About Peg

Peg Rounds lives in East Moline, Illinois with her husband and best friend, Kevin and their son Josh and 2 dogs. She was an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom, and later a home school mom. Over the years, she designed cakes on the side and went to school to become a certified chocolatier. She always has loved to craft since she was young and it was something that she wanted to be doing, but set it aside due to her busy life. After 15 years of doing cakes she decided it was time to stop and focus more on her family. She began doing layouts, then cards and it went from there. Before she knew it, next to spending time with her family, she spent every free moment creating something and blogging about it. One thing led to another and here she is today!
