This year’s Handmade Halloween Costume Contest Finalists will be put to the test with 3 guest judges, a CreateForLess employee, and our 5th judge, you! It’s time to introduce our three lovely judges, and make sure to check out their blogs for even more craft inspiration.

Stephanie from A Geek in Glasses

You’ll probably recognize some of the crafts from this judge. Stephanie has been a regular Kid’s Crafts contributor right here on Think Crafts for quite a while. You can find even more inspired crafts, party ideas, style and more on Stephanie’s blog A Geek in Glasses.

What was your best Halloween costume ever?

I really enjoyed the year we were June & Ward “Cleaver”, a domestically disturbed version of the “Leave it to Beaver” 1950’s couple.  My husband was in a lovely vintage suit and tie with a large meat cleaver sticking out of his head. I was the ever so prim and proper June, down to my 1950’s dress, half apron and pearls with a large carving knife stuck in my ear.

What type of candy did you love to get while trick-or-treating, and what was the biggest disappointment?

I love chocolate, the biggest disappointment is peppermints. (Did I say is, I mean was…it’s not like I still raid the kid’s treat bag or anything.)

What are some of your favorite Halloween crafts?

I love carving pumpkins.  As for crafts, anything spooky works!

What are you going as for Halloween this year?

It’s still undecided.  My daughter wants us to go as the cast of Monster High.  My Husband wants us to go as Doctor Who. I want to go as Despicable Me 2. Who will win? Stay Tuned!

What were you last year?

Day of the Dead Couple Skeletons and a unicorn. Our secondary costume for a party was Merida, King Fergus and Queen Eleanor.

What was the best costume you’ve ever seen?

I saw an Edward Scissorhands that I was convinced was Johnny Depp!

What was your biggest costume fail?

The year my Husband was a Giant Red M & M and the red hair dye ran down his face.  But I didn’t learn from that experience, I had to learn it for myself when the red hair dye turned my whole costume shades of red when I was Columbia from Rocky Horror Picture Show.  NOTE: DO NOT USE SPRAY IN RED HAIR DYE!!! Just saying.

What’s your favorite fall recipe?

I don’t bake much, but the local coffee house has a lovely Maple, Pumpkin Latte that is to die for!
